Sayers has dwindled to only a few shops now sadly, their humpty back pasties(traditional)were the best.
I had a Saturday job at Lewis's on the paint department - so I did a lot of standing about! The only shop in town where nearly the whole staff were completely pissed on Christmas Eve - before the shop had closed.
Yeah. I was dragged up just off Goodison Road (I know, I know). I think there is one still in County Road, but it's not in the same place. It's down by Walton Church, but ours was nearer the Spellow Lane end. I don't know if it moved or if there were originally two. Eggy Road was too far south for me as a kid, though we did have the odd expedition to Otterspool. It was only when I started work in Speke that I got for familiar with that neck of the woods.
Remember it well. I worked in a printing origination house in Woodend Avenue- we used to make plates for Evans.
my first job was on the clubship landfall in the collingwood dock, only lasted a few months but i had a bigger stocked bar in our house than donald trump when i finished.
