Jonas "Spiderman" Gutierrez has returned to training this week. No news on what the personal problem was. Hope all is well on that front and its greta to have him back to help our wafer thin squad through the cold winter months. Thought I'd let you know as I know how much you all love him, and how much he's been missed.

This weekend may be too soon for Pards to shoe horn him into the team though.

Thought this had been done yesterday.

Having been given compassionate leave to return to his native Argentina last month, Magpies winger Jonas Gutierrez is now reportedly back on Tyneside.

The nature of the personal issue that's kept him out of Alan Pardew's squad since the Cardiff away fixture in early October still hasn't been disclosed - but the 30 year-old is back in training.

Apologies if so. I must have missed that thread and got extremely excited by the news of his impending return to the squad. Some tough decisions for Pards this weekend. Supposedly every senior player bar Raylor trained this week. I just hope he has the sense to stick to the team which did so well at Spurs.

Can't see it. I think he'll only get of the bench if we are ahead and have something to hold onto. That's the role I see for him at the minute anyway. HBA can fill the role of game changer when we are behind. Gives us a nicely balanced bench for the wide areas.

Going to the Belle View Stadium tonight ACS?

A Newcastle United reserve XI will christen the new Belle View stadium of Northern League side Consett by providing the opposition tonight for a friendly.

Kickoff is at 7.45pm and admission is by paying at the gate - £6 adults, £3 concessions and £1 for bairns. Match referee is Consett-born Mark Clattenburg. Yuk!

The Magpies squad is expected to include Gael Bigirimana, James Tavernier, Adam Campbell, Curtis Good, Kevin Mbabu, Brandon Miele, Olivier Kemen and Lubo Satka. Coach Peter Beardsley is also expected to feature.

Should be worth it just to see Pedro on the field again.

Jonas being back is good news. Means we can stop putting Obertan on to shaw things up if we are ahead.

I am good thanks, hws you ?
    Predication for tomorrow ?
Its a game we should be looking to win
But it would be just like us to ruin the spurs points.
Pardew seems to struggle to motivate in games when should be looking for all three points.
Norwich's position is worse then they actually are and have a few tidy players howson is in form and hopper will be aggressive up top with pillington
    A threat with his creativity.

Aye Hopper has a great jump on him for a little fella. Mind that Pillington seems to be off his head half the time. :emoticon-0105-wink: Sorry couldn't resist fella.

Nah but Hooper is decent, Howson has been in good form, and Pilkington on his day is dangerous. Much rests with Fer. He makes them tick if you give him time, but is not so effective if you get after him. Been playing a number 10 role for them. Hopefully Cheick will be in form and fettle him. The other main man for them is Redmond. Very good player and drifts around a bit which makes him dificult to pick up. At 2m he was an absolute steal.

    bad spelling / long week
Fer has the pedigree to be a decent player however if we start with a decent tempo and get stuck in we should out muscle him.
Tiote would have played in holland against him at a guess
Redmond was a great buy and a Ashley ideal type of signing young cheap and sell on later for a profit he has struggled recently but is only young.
Snodgrass has a decent free kick in him too.

Now JFK is gonna go claiming he snapped up Gutierrez from Argentina, and Remy on loan, Shane Ferguson from Brum as proof of his work as Director of Football.

Anyone else think we've looked much better this year because Jonas hasn't been around looking knackered all the time?

No. Useful player to have around. Jonas>Obertan at the end of the day. He now has a challenge to up his level from last season. To be fair in his fleeting appearances early on he looked like the rest had done him good. Don't believe in writing him off. If we were gonna do that because of last season, we'd have to write off 90% of the team. <laugh>

We've looked better because they've had a fresh start and regained a bit of confidence.
