The FA rules state that the club playing name is (The name under which the Club competes in a Competition) As far as I am concerned and I suspect the majority of supporters, The club playing name is THE only relevant name and it is currently HULL CITY.
Err no, Phil Buckingham clearly says the team are currently PLAYING under Hull City AFC, and Allams response is "No, I don’t know where you get this from". That's not ducking the question, thats Allam saying he is wrong.
There's a historic hand written FA record of all clubs and in that we're still listed as Hull City AFC, but in daily use the FA don't normally use the AFC or FC suffix's.
Clarification from AA would be nice but I'm not sure he knows what name he wants to change. One thing I did notice last week in the various interviews, and this assumes he does know one from the other so I may be contradicting the above sentence, is his continued confirmation that he simply wants to shorten the name rather then change it. Of the two names registered at the FA, only the entity name can be shortened from Hull City Tigers to Hull Tigers. So he's either confused or a blatant liar.
If he applies in April, which is during the current 2013-14 season, I guess that there would be insufficient time, ie 4 months, for the FA council to discuss/ratify any change baring in mind that fixture lists are usually out in June. I would therefore suggest that any accepted name change would be for the 2015-16 season.
We have to confirm the new badge within the next two weeks, or it can't be used on next seasons kit. We're supposed to get a vote on a few options, but that's probably been binned now, but I wouldn't be surprised if AA just went ahead with anything he wanted. We could end up with thousands of kits that we're not allowed to use.
Entity name: Hull City Tigers Limited Registered name: Hull City AFC (this will appear on the European Champions League when we win it) Playing name: Hull City (this will appear on the FA Cup and the League Cup (whoever sponsors it) when we win them) Any change in the playing name requires the FA's approval. All very simple. Assem Allam fills in the form and sends it to the FA and the council vote on it. If they vote no, we remain Hull City. Life is very simple.
I thought I read somewhere that the proposed change can be applied for in the new year during the period 1st Jan - 31st March. The deadline is April 1st. The FA council then probably decides at it's first meeting after this date to ratify or veto. We need to find out who sits on the FA council and put pressure on them.
It's not difficult to understand the above. Why are many people trying to make out there's not an issue or it's different to the real issue?
Another repeated thread (I accept the OP was unaware ) that has turned into the same circular argument; surely this merits a merge.
No, but is it a rule that the playing name must be used in certain places? Allam might be doing everything differently calling us by the company name wherever he can but he might not be breaking any rules.
He's definitely broken the rules, he's telling all other clubs to use Hull City Tigers as our playing name.
