Exactly... and when hopefully when we get these strikers, I would want someone a lot younger and with more creativity to provide them with chances from midfield... not Nolan who's stamina gives in after 60-70 minutes.

I don't see what everyone's problem with Nolan is to be honest. We didn't win a single game he didn't play in last season, and despite his failings i still feel as though what he brings to the team when he plays is invaluable.

Also another thing, since when did 'all he brings to the game is goals' somehow a bad thing? Oh, all Barton brings to the team is passing. All Tiote brings is a stability in midfield. All Ben Arfa brings is skill <doh>

Aye, let's drop a goal scorer. Goals win games. Apart from 1 goal against Arsenal, tell me when Nolan has cost us?

What about Barton's stamina? Great player, but has the fitness of a crippled hedgehog after about 60 minutes (numerous examples before you start - e.g. Tottenham 1-1 at home where he collapsed whilst passing the ball (which got intercepted and they went down and scored)

At Blackpool. One of the worst performances from him in a nufc shirt EVER!

Every single player has poor games though. Even Colo has had a few stinkers, Bolton away for example, you can't just use one game as proof that he's not good enough to be in the starting 11.

Ok can we just settle that it's a tough choice who to drop in CM. Everyone has their pros and cons and we all have different ideas about who should be in there.

At the end of the day I think people are blinded by Nolan because of everything he's done for us in the championship and yes, the goals hes scored.

The fact is though I'd rather a central midfielder who can still pitch in goals (even if its not 12 or more) but at the same time, is good in tackle, which Nolan is not, who has a good passing range, which Nolan does not, who can last the game without gasping for air, which Nolan does not, and who has pace, which guess what, Nolan does not.

In theory without Nolan dragging the team down in most ways we could be better defensively, better going forward and potentially score more goals due to the increased attack and creativity in the team.

Yes hes done a lot for us and we all love him, but its important not to keep playing stagnating players just because we like them, if we did Shearer would still be playing for us into his 40's.

Lets push on and improve, and hopefully keep Nolan to challenge his place or be used for impact.

THIS! Cabaye is TWICE the player Nolan will ever be! Perfect partner/competition for Tiote - Barton respectively. Nolan can be a very good impact sub though to with his vast experience & his finishing ability.

    THIS

    COMPLETELY AGREE

Without nolan we may have done even better...the course of history would have been completely changed and who knows what would have happened...

People seem to forget that things in the past would have happened differently if you change the variables...its just common sense.

I'm just pointing out how important his goals are. Goals are the most important. If you want to see good passing then fine, I personally want to see goals.
