That's a grest picture and love Swannies reaction..... RTID not really, it goes back to the summer series when in the 3rd or 4th test Broad whist batting got a thick edge to a ball, it bounced out of the 'keepers gloves and was caught by 1st slip, the aussies appealed for the catch, but for some reason the umpire didn't give Broad out (as he should have been). Broad refused to walk, the aussies had no more tv reviews left, so Broad was allowed to continue batting and made a decent score that took the game away from Australia.......Needless to say they have not forgotten or forgiven him and what is in the press is their supposed payback....The thing is Broad is at the moment stuffing the abuse back down thier throats.....
blame the umpires not broad, but still they gave him stick, and he shoved it down their throats, come on England!!!!
Great day for England having been put into the field. Make no mistake, had Cook won the toss he would have left scorch marks on the turf on the way to pad up!! Despite their fight back (the Aussies will always put up a scrap) the Aussies will be desperately disappointed with that first day. Fantastic from Broad.........I hope he continues to stick it up them for the entire series. Mind you, England need to wrap it up early tomorrow, which won't be easy as Harris can bat. Come on England!!
Australian media is so ****. They should be embarrassed. On the plus side farflung and myself are going today and tomorrow. Letsunami hope for a few early wickets. Then a batting master class.
I thought we won the first test at the Gabba last time England played over here.? I went to 3 days of it and cant remember to be honest. Far to much alcohol and singing involved. Other Queens, may meet you for a beer at lunch. I'll be at the Gabba between 1 & 4pm. Give me a call. Some very quiet Aussie around work today !!....apparently no-one really follows cricket in Aus anymore !!!
Thanks Tramore, I get the picture. Strangely enough, I was at a family do with one of my wife's uncles over the summer who was waxing lyrical about how atrocious it was that the hot spot was being used and that the spirit of cricket was to walk when you were out. I guess "that is just not cricket, what?!"
I don't know why the Aussies are bleating about it so much. They did the same thing. ( Warner didn't walk either. ) They're just making a fuss about it because they are bad losers. If they had won the series, this Broad hating wouldn't be happening.
Yeah but its even better that they are hating him, esp the way he has ripped them apart in the first innings....Hope this is a sign of things to come for the rest of the ashes !
just back from the pub where we watched the first session.... doing a bit of work then heading back soon. Work getting in the way of sport- it's not right
Disastrous day for England. They always seem to start these overseas tours badly with the bat. Trouble is.........give the Aussies a sniff and they may well steam roller you!! Hard for England to win the series after this imo.
Can't believe what i saw, turned telly on at 6.15 & saw warner & rogers batting & then see the scorecard disaster & think only rain can save them, was it a bit over over confidence? but what i've heard its about poor shot selection again, 82-2 & then collapsed.
