I had a similar lucky escape involving a lorry some years ago. Cycling across busy a dual carriageway where I lived in London, I forgot that they had closed one side of it for resurfacing and had traffic going both ways on one side. I glanced over my right shoulder going at full pelt, nothing coming so cycled out into the lanes, where I was met by a 10.5 tonne delivery truck coming the other way. Got hit head on and woke up lying in the road around twenty minutes later with people kneeling over me telling me not to try and move. I didn't have a clue what was going on for a few minutes and kept drifting in and out of consciousness. I eventually came around when I heard the sirens of an ambulance and when the paramedics lifted me up on a stretcher I could see the scene around me. Big truck, skid marks on the road, bike folded in two, lots of people standing at the barriers asking 'Is he dead ?' I got away with several broken toes and bones in my left foot, concussion, bruising and cuts and a healthy resolve to always check both ways in future. I phoned the lorry driver a couple of weeks later to apologise for cycling out in front of his truck. Poor bloke, said he saw me, couldn't stop, heard the thump of me hitting the front of his lorry, then felt the wheels crush something underneath and thought he was going to get out of the cab to see blood and guts of a squashed me in the road. Close call
Wow! A cyclist admitting he was in the wrong! Careful mate, you'll be drummed out of the tufty club. Seriously though that sounds horrendous - again, glad to hear that you were ok eventually.
Completely in the wrong, it was a classic case of absent mindedness. I must have cycled that route thousands of times over the years and just didn't pay attention to the road works that day.
Walcott's back. Podolski still 3 weeks away, OXO a month, Sanogo January, Diaby March. Podolski 3 weeks is a lot of time because we play soooooooo many games in these 3 weeks, 2 games a week, so looks like the pressure is still all going to be on Giroud.
Omg PISKIE! Forget being hit by a lorry on a bike, it was bad enough with the metal frame of a car to protect me! I haven't been to the doctor to get checked but i am going to. Today i have noticed injuries i didn't even realise i had - cuts and bruises all over the place and my throat and chest are swelling pretty badly from the seatbelt. The more time that passes since i was hit the more it seems to hurt! Am hoping there are no other injuries that i'm going to realise over the next day or two!
The only games I can see Walcott as CF, is by the time Podolski's back when we face West Ham-Newcaslte back-back....Would not want Walcott as a CF against either City, Chelsea, think he will get outmuscled in both, plus Walcott's been very effective against Chelsea as a wide man.
Onto another point, Sanogo, seriously? The team didn't learn from Diaby, so decided to buy another injury prone player? That's a waste of wages right there. Also this isn't a case of us getting unlucky, Wenger has often spoken about Sanogo's injury woes and how it was a risk to sign him, why take that risk when we already have one super solid injury prone player, and why especially take that risk in a position we desperately need numbers in?
He came on a free, so it was a gamble worth taking. It wasn't like Wenger wasn't trying to sign another striker this summer though.
Walcott is the player we needed back the most. He will increase our attacking options by adding pace and goals. This will also take off some pressure from Giroud.
Same happened to me when I wrote off my car, thought I was absolutely fine then the next day my leg was in agony and I had bruising all across my ribs from the seat belt
His wages eventually add up....We can get Lewdanski on a free, but he would cost something like 5-7 million a year! so you're still paying money, as Wenger even says, part of the transfer budget includes wages, not just the buying fee. Instead of buying an injury prone player, would've been much better to just have promoted a youngster from the ranks, someone like Akpom.
thanks for tip. i actually get phoned at least 5 times a ****ing day by ****ing ambulance chasing injury lawyers are us type ****s [where do they get phone numbers from !!] even though i have my own legal representation via insurance.
Still top of the league, but it's looking far better:

Player Condition Expected Return

K Gibbs Illness No Return Date

R Miyaichi Hamstring Injury No Return Date

Y Sanogo Back Injury 18th Jan 14

L Podolski Hamstring Injury 11th Dec 13

A Oxlade-Chamberlain Knee Injury 1st Jan 14

V Diaby ACL Knee Injury Mar 14

Podolski seems to always be 'three weeks' away from returning, which is worrying because we have seen this happen to other players (Rosicky,Wilshere, etc). He is the only player in the squad for me who can cover for Giroud and we need him back as soon as possible.
