And the winner of the most stupid post is Craig. Everything is the fault of Thatcher in the immature minds of people like Craig.
What's the point of football if not to be the best you possibly can? It's a professional competition not a meaningless under 5's 'at least we tried' primary school league.
Actually, there is some real irony here. If anyone can remember who the more vocal participants on either side of the thatcher debate were at the time of her death, now look where they stand over a private owner of a community assets policy. Real irony.
I thought the issue was about changing the name? What is this "private owner of a community assets policy" we're all up in arms about?
I just find it funny from how scathing you were about privatisation (and I would assume that as a community asset you'd want a football club to be community owned) you are praising the decision a private owner has made which is by and large frowned up on by its consumer base. Where as people* like Stuart Blampey and Suitedandbooted who defended privatisation to the teeth are fuming about it and think a private owner shouldn't be able to **** about with a community asset like Allam and Tan are doing. I think they both support the notion that fans should hold shares and have a place on the board. More ironic on those two dimwits part, as I believe you take the stance you do to piss people like that pair of half wits off, and others who were just as vocal against maggie like stan are just as vocal against the name change. *i used that term loosely
Yes, I see what you're getting at Mr. Hat. But this debate and where various people are lining up, demonstrates something I have believed for some time - "conservative" doesn't always mean "right-wing". As people will have seen from other posts of mine, I'm clearly left wing but see myself as pretty conservative in a number of respects, particularly in protecting decent human values and traditions - in this case, protecting the name and heritage of our club AND the notion of democracy. Mrs. Thatcher was clearly right wing and pursued an economic agenda that was radical, not conservative. As for you Craig - your willingness to disparage people who want to resist, describing them as "whiners", is strange indeed!
Believe it or not I don't connect football and politics in any way and I don't think anyone else does.
It's more a case of disparaging the demise of this forum than people who want to resist. Anyone from another site would regard this place as a laughing-stock because virtually every thread is an extension of the same argument. I want to keep the debate going, but it should be happening in one place rather than inundating the board and spilling into every other thread. It is because OLM and his brownshirts are trying to brow-beat everyone into submission and the CTWD Moderators are all part of it. The only thing they haven't realised is those tactics just harden people's opinions against them.
erm let me see, let's take AS Roma and AS Lazio to begin.. go search then, supporters groups in countries like Argentina.. the Belgrade clubs..
