Cheers Bushman......some things just pop into the mind, no idea why I remembered that home defeat.....

That game at the Valley my father and I were standing next to some Charlton fans and they were saying what a good side we were and that we would win the league at a canter, which eventually we did......more of the same this season hopefully.

Like Bushman, I mainly post on Report, but his memory & collection of old Rangers is beyond compare.

I have been to the Valley only twice in my life, with the second being the 3-2 FA Cup win in 69-70. One of my favourite games.

My first visit was in either 57 or 58 for the last game of the season as a family outing. Charlton were in second place in the second division, one point ahead of Blackburn (my father's club). Guess who were the visitors that day? As a young boy we were packed in at the front of the crowd of over 70,000 celebrating a Blackburn promotion after a 4-3 win. It was 4-1 with 5 minutes left!

I just wish I could remember how legends like Ronnie Clayton & Bryan Douglas played on that day!

Ronnie Clayton & Bryan Douglas were the epitomy of profesional footballer's back then, compaired to the mercernary rabble that play today.
Between them they clocked up over a thousand league games for Blackburn.
I had the privilege to have seen both of them play.

That's a great and interesting post Tel. How comes you ended up supporting the R's?

Sorry it's taken so long to reply nines.

How did I become a Ranger?

Well, as a boy I'm afraid that I changed my league team on a regular basis but I was always faithful to my first love - Chesham United.

In the mid 60's my brother started changing his allegance from Balckburn To Queens Park Rangers (or perhaps it may be truer to say to Rodney Marsh). Living in the Chilterns meant that the Bush was always easy to get to & my brother started going with a friend who had always been a Ranger.

I started getting free lifts to Loftus Road in the 67-68 season & was at Villa Park for that unforgetable promotion party. The M1 on the return was amazing with cars doing figures of eight around the team coach. My favourite journey of all time.

Yet, this was not enough for me to pledge my full support. That took a little matter of being relegated with only four wins in the season!

By the start of the 69-70 season I was hooked & I'm still being reeled in. Do I regret it? Many a time, but would I swop it. Never.

    COME ON MY TEAM

By the way, my father became a Blackburn fan when they reached the FA Cup final in 1928 & everyone he knew wanted Huddersfield to win!
