The following lines are taken from the official FA handbook for the 2013-14 season, I cut and pasted as the document is huge, but available on http://www.thefa.com CLUBS IN FULL MEMBERSHIP Number on left indicates Division. Club Playing Name Entity Name Company No Hull City Hull City Tigers Limited 4032392 So it appears that Mr Allam has so far only been able to change the 'Entity name' of the club and nothing else. I assume the entity name is the 'Company name' because if you open the document and look at all of the entity names, many of them are different to the club playing name, ie Arsenal's entity name is 'The Arsenal Football Club Public Limited Company' Interesting to note though that there is no AFC in any club playing names apart from those starting with AFC. Very big document but worth glancing through What does everyone think?
So Allam is correct that Hull City Tigers is registered with the FA. That's that one put to bed then.
Well as long as he just changes the entity name to Hull Tigers Ltd or whatever, and leaves that playing name as it is, it's pretty much sorted other than the AFC which we'll just have to lobby to bring back after his tenure ends. Maybe the tactic should be to say we would support an 'entity name' of Hull Tigers Ltd as long as the registered playing name doesn't change.
Apart from the fact that he refuses to acknowledge there is a difference between the playing name and the company name.
We're going over old ground here. It has been mentioned before that there is a possibility this is just one calamitous terminology ****-up and it's only the entity name that AA wants to change. He might think we don't want the entity name to change whilst we think it's the team name he wants to change.
The difference between what? Dr. Allam stated that the name Hull City Tigers is registered with the FA, and everyone vilified him saying its not, but there it is in black and white.
The playing name hasn't changed though has it? Unless its just me that thinks the playing name is the one worn on the players shirts...
I apologise if this is going over old ground. I didn't think that anyone had posted a link to the actual FA document.
No, he refuses to specify which name he's on about. He dodges that question like its a bullet. He has never once said that the entity name is the same as the playing name.
We don't care about the business/entity name , it's only Dr Allam who seems to think we do , he can't change the playing name until next season
He's got the club emailing all other clubs telling them to use Hull City Tigers as our playing name. He may, or may not, be acting daft with regard to what is registered with the FA, but he knows perfectly well what he's telling everyone our playing name is.
From the Hull Daily Mail interview; To clarify, the club’s name is Hull City Tigers but the team play under Hull City AFC currently? No, I don’t know where you get this from. The name with Companies House and the FA is Hull City Tigers.
In fact he can only change the playing name next season if he registered with the FA to change it in before April this year. And then it is down to FA discretion if they approve it or not! If he registers to change the playing name before next April, It won't change until the following season even if approved.
The name. Not the playing name, not the company name, the name. Which bloody name? He dodged that question the same way in each interview. I think he's just trying to be old clever clogs. OLM, again, is he using it as the playin name or is he trying to get other clubs to use the company name? What uses does the playing name have? Officially, in which instances should we be referred to only by our playing name? That's a question to send to the FA to clarify. I doubt they'll answer it. They'll do an Allam and give you a load of nonsense without actually answering anything.
The playing name is the one that's used on shirts, programmes and fixtures lists(basically, anything relating to playing a game). The company name is used on accounts, legal documents and anything relating to the commercial activities of the club.
Has AA ever said he wants to change our playing name? He is right in saying the company name has already changed. Surely this cant be one massive cloud of confusion? Does he have no advisers at all?
Are you sure thats right ? I thought he had to register the change before next April for next season ?
Ask the FA. Get official ratification from them for exactly which instances the club must be referred to as the playing name and only by the playing name. Our shirt says Hull City AFC but our playing name is just simply Hull City.
