Mauricio said last week that he was unwell...still coughing and sniffing during his interview and he didn't look well. Hope we aren't going to be like Arsenal who had a virus going round before their match with United. David seemed to have a cold as well (even more worrying :)), though he could be merely translating Mauricio's spluttering into English.

Admit it, you just want to rub Vicks on their chest.

Indeed Lambert was sacrificed at Anfield and Old Trafford, so that is a distinct possible. Guess it depends on the physical strength of Osvaldo as to whether it's him or Jay Rod.

Liverpool did pay for a private jet to get him to meet up with the Uruguay squad last week. Not an extravagance we need to make for a sub

I knew the media would do it. Poch has apparently backed Arsenal to win the Premier League, according to the odd headline [no doubt the first of many]. As the journo asked his question, I thought... here we go. : http://www.clubcall.com/southampton/pochettino-backs-gunners-for-title-1666739.html

Poch was asked whether he thought Arsenal were playing the best football and he agreed. Then he was asked if he was backing Arsenal to win the Premier League, and he said, yes they could, and so could several other clubs. But of course, he made the mistake of saying YES, which means he now has been quoted as saying he backs them to win the PL. Which is NOT what he said. Trivial point perhaps but, once again, the truth has been obliterated by the story.

I had to write about this too. However, I went with "Pochettino has belief in Wenger's Arsenal" - http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2013...belief-in-wengers-arsenal/&utm_source=Twitter

    I'll never make it. :)

But fair play for sticking to the truth and not playing around with what he actually said too much. You haven't changed the meaning of his words.

You're going to have to cure yourself of this tendency towards honesty. I suggest you practice on here with some bare-faced lies. :)

Yes, good to see. In fact, I spotted several new faces.

    -------------------------------------------------------

I think people know I'm an admirer of Jose Fonte and his dedication to the project at Saints, but even I realise that Besiktas might be a tempting offer. However, I suspect that the Turkish club would have to offer a personal fortune to prise him away at present. He's playing the football of his life, for a club there's no question he loves, in the league he always aspired to. I think Besiktas might find it's an uphill battle not worth pursuing, and Saints won't even need to try:

Good to see, i didn't see the full game but understand he acquitted himself well at Sunderland and I know Morgan said he was a talented player in an interview in the summer. With Cork out injured he may get a place on the bench, but even travelling up with the 1st team to a place like Arsenal would be a good experience.

Latest odds news from Betfair, as ever under the assumption that Betfair odds accurately reflect the true odds of an event occurring (as per dozens of published papers).

    So:

Chances of Liverpool leaving Goodison with one or zero points, 62%

Chances of our winning at Arsenal, 16%

Thus, chances of our being first or second at the end of Saturday is almost exactly 10%.

Now, taking the scores 0-2, 0-3 and 1-3 (for bigger scores the odds haven't settled but the figures won't change the maths much), the combined % for those is a depressing 4.22%, leaving us with the combined chances of Liverpool failing and our winning by one of those scores (so ending up top) as 2.6%. That would be nice.

'Mauricio Pochettino's side have achieved some great results - like drawing at Old Trafford and winning at Anfield - so they know that their high-tempo pressing game works.

But, just like the Merseyside derby for Everton and Liverpool, this game offers another gauge of Saints' ambitions this season.'

Shock of shocks here boys ;)

Sorry, I should have added of course that Lawro has indeed predicted a 2-0 win to the Gunners!

I`m trying to think of a player who has gone from the UK to Turkey and been a great success, and stayed there for a protracted period of time. Help me out folks ! I don`t think I would find it an attractive move, but money talks I suppose.

Dunno about great success, but I guess moving to Fenerbahce from Sheffield United was a decent step up for Colin Kazim Richards. Eboué is doing pretty well for Galatasaray I think.

Galatasaray is probably quite an attractive club to move to, for reasons other than money. They play in Europe every year and it'd be quite nice to live in Istanbul. Besiktas is probably a slightly less attractive version of that.
