That seems unnecessary and idiotic. Curious how it behaves in the places where there are not only multiple official languages, but additional common ones.

They say they are working on it but give no time. Also what language you talk will also determine what Xbox market place you get.

So if I were to purchase one (ha) and swear at it in German while initially setting it up, I'd be doomed to a life of having to give commands in German from that point forward? Well, I need the practice, I suppose.

Do my eyes deceive me..? Have I actually seen captions that ITV are Channel of the Year..?

By what criteria..? By whose brainless nod of affirmation allowed them to proclaim such a title..? ITV are channel of the year..? Not in this bloody century, and certainly not in this household.

Haven't a clue, but sounds a complete mess. MS top PR guy thought Europe was a country.....

Xbox One will automatically deletes saved games it doesn't think you play much.

Nope you can't. MS are calling it a 'feature'

And an unecessary one.

When I got my PS2 back, the memory card still had my old Pro Evo seasons on it. So I just edited the Saints players to be the present ones and carried on. I don't suppose the games had been played in all the 3 or so years the console had been out of my hands. Now that's a feature.

Can you add external HDDs to it? If not, I can see the quasi-logic, because you'd run out of space quickly. Not that it's a good idea in the slightest.

Other than the multiplayer aspect, I really don't get the internal logic of console gaming.

Nope at launch external HDD's won't be supported. They say the cloud will be used for saves but only when it actual works and if you subscribe to Xbox Live. So if you haven't got internet or a ****ty one you are screwed. You also won't be able to see what's saved on your Xbox One.

Doesn't the PS4 do basically the same thing? Not game saves, but installed games?

Ps4 caches the data and you can manually delete each cache on the settings screen. PS4 will not automatically delete your ****.

You know, all this is just an argument for me to keep fetching high performance PCs out of the skip and doing what the hell I like with them. It's one of the reasons why PCs will never go away. They're far too versatile.

So, you have a situation where only the internal HDD is supported, but that only has room for a handful of games. Also, if you're the sort to buy a bunch of games and play them piecemeal rather than playing one start-to-finish, it'll delete all of your saves.

How is that a sensible business model, when the goal is to sell games?

But they have the cloud!
Also the Xbox One takes over a minute from cold start up to Xbox One menu screen

Love the fact that even reputable technology companies view The Cloud as some kind of all-conquering behemoth that entirely removes the need for local storage. Amazon Web Services, especially their massive east coast datacentre, goes down with regularity, taking a bunch of popular services with it...it'll be fun when MS has similar issues and suddenly their "doesn't always need to be online" service leaves people mysteriously unable to use their product offline.

MS have just said for people that don't go online you will get a prompt when you reach the HDD limit. It will then say do you want to delete the game you played last. It will not give you a option of what to delete and you won't be able to see what is saved on the HDD or what space there is.
