Looks to be a fascinating race and I have backed 2 in it.

    Gevery Chambertin 15/2 & Two Rockers 8/1 both e/w

David Pipe will be looking to win this with another Grey in Gevery Chambertin who will be looking to follow in Dynaste and his brothers footsteps Grands Crus by winning this.

Alan King trained Two Rockers should love the ground should it turn heavy and looked a horse with a future last season.

    Best of luck all <cheers>

Just been looking at this whilst eating my butties.
Got to respect Chevrey Chambertain as Pipe has a good record in this race and the stable has recently fired. He does seem best earlier in the season (form tails off late season) and he should go close.
However the 2 I'm interested in are TWO ROCKERS for the in form King team, should the rain come he must go close, looks a real 3m chaser in the making and could be a real eye catcher after a summer grass, but the current pleasant weather in the NW is a worry as his form is mainly on soft/heavy ground.
The other fancy is ELY BROWN who won on seasonal debut at Aintree nicely enough a few weeks ago, was 6th I think in the Pertemps at Cheltz last March and is nicely weighted, should go well and he would like the better ground.

Knock a Hand is also a course specialist here, a big factor at Haydock--needs soft/heavy to be seen to best effect though--so will wait for the morning to see --at 16/1 an e/w price even by the master of g's standards...

Going to take a chance on Mr Henderson's Utopie Des Bordes in this one at 10/1. The mare had a nice pipe-opener on her seasonal debut at Wincanton a couple of weeks ago and in her fledgling career she has already won a Grade 1 chase in France (on heavy ground over 2m6f by 6 lengths from ***o) and a listed novice hurdle over 2m4f on heavy at Sandown. She was then pitched in at the very highest level, tackling the Albert Bartlett at the festival (finished 5th) and then the Mersey Novices Hurdle at Aintree (finished 2nd) before rounding off her season with a comfortable success in a class 2 novices hurdle at Perth. Back to her seasonal reappearance, she carried top weight in a competitive handicap hurdle against some useful sorts on ground that was way too lively for her, and was eased after the last when her chance had gone, finishing 10 lengths behind Highland Retreat. Today's longer trip and soft ground should be right up her street and off a mark of 136 she looks to hold a major chance here.

Master of the sea for me
Probably needs holding up to fully see out the trip on pretty dead Haydock ground though but worth a wager

Very good performance from him- jumped superbly.

Only concern for him in future is stamina but he certainly can jump.
