We should look to the future and sign a young 17 year old Neal Maupay from Nice. He was getting in their team last season and scored a few goals. Shouldn't cost too much but from the bits and bobs I've seen of him he's looked **** hot even at that tender age.
Then we've no chance. What about Londan Danavon? Doesn't your vauxhall conference league finish soon?
LA is done but there is no chance that Donovan leaves on loan again. He almost quit last season, he took a few months off including the beginging of this season. It is why he was left out of the national team for so long. He will play a few more years and then retire but no way will he play in the offseason or leave LA. He is also 31 so his best years are behind him, no one is going to come in and pay what LA would want for him anyway. Cahill wants to come back to the PL on loan for the offseason.
I think he likes the game but has lost some passion for it. Here is an article from when he announced his break from the game. http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1209899/los-angeles-galaxy's-landon-donovan-eyes-break-from-soccer
I use both terms. I use soccer in reference to teams here and I use football for teams in other parts of the world.
Not this again...; you aren't suddenly **** at football when you turn 30. The only thing that goes down is your resale value. We got Deano at 37 and I didn't hear anybody complaining about Ashbee's age when he was playing in the PL. Suppose that makes Allan McGregor **** as well.
I just call it the NFL. I dont talk much about it as I dont watch it and I dont know that many people who are into it.
I didnt say he was **** man. I think he is porbably the best MLS player there is. Depsey is good but id rather have Donovan. I simply mean that you can not buy him and expect him to improve and that fact will hurt his resale value. Your take on what I said is your issue with other people as your interpretation of what I said is incorrect. Also he has been injured a lot over the last few years, and is currently injured as well. That does increase with age. No where did I say he was ****. Its all pointless anyway as there is 0 chance he ever plays for us.
Just noticed your new quote Reminded me of the scene where Melchett doesn't listen to what Darling is saying and still sends him out to the trenches.
But surely by saying his best years are behind him you're suggesting that he's less than at his best? People always discuss a players age because some are subconsciously thinking about whether or not they'll be able to sell them on for mega money later, in effect thinking about selling a player before he's even signed for us. I honestly don't think age comes into it where ability is concerned, I think it only affects buying price. Sorry if it came across as me having a go, it's just something that really annoys me about football, not you in general
I watch quite a bit of Donovan beyond Canadatiger I probably watch him more than anyone on here. I do think that he is not as good as he was a couple years ago. It isnt so much his ability it is more the mental aspect of the game. Just a few years ago he almost always made the best run, made the best pass etc. Now its almost like there are periods of the game where he fades and has little impact. (similar to Koren actually) It isnt ability as he can still make those passes and make those runs. He is 31 and 31 isnt that old, so I do not know if it is age that is the issue. I think when you couple him fading in games to the fact he had to leave the game for a bit for mental reasons you get a player that feels older than he really is. I am suggesting that if he did come to the PL that you would not have the player who went on loan to Everton. He is still really good, but he is not as good as people who do not whatch the MLS will remember. A player with his ability playing tell they are in their mid 30's is not unusual, I just can not see him playing very much longer.
Would his mental state with regards to quitting the game have something to do with it I wonder? Oh and apparently it was Knockaert we were watching recently, I assume because of the Aluko injury. Have to shell out a few quid for him I imagine.
Can Cahill play up front? I'm not for all this ''his hold play is excellent and he does a lot of work for the team'' BS, Graham is here to score goals and he has failed miserably just like he did at Sunderland who managed to be even bigger mugs than us, at least we didn't pay £5m for the pleasure but with all his wages I bet its still a tidy whack Get rid of him in January if its a loan deal made out in our favour and use his saved wages and and the money thats available already and get a real striker in and not Long either, splash serious cash on Rhodes and if does somehow go wrong he will still have good resale value so nothings lost.
I hope we get Nordin Amrabat, I think he'd be a great addition. Offers something different for when Elmo's off his game.
