Nope. Cork will come in because he is the natural replacement for either Morgan or Wanyama. Yoshida/Hooiveld will come in as they are the natural replacements for Fonte/Lovren. Gaston is a different scenario. Poch has already shown he would rather have Davis or JWP ahead of him. He will shuffle the other options in this area rather than bring Ramirez straight in.
Because Ever needs a change of scene, he's become too comfortable at Valencia. This is why he is looking to leave.
Naw. He's been that way his entire career, otherwise he would have been playing for Barca long ago. It's never been a question of talent. Valencia won't be sad to see the last of him.
We would be daft to "cut our losses" in January. He may depart on loan but I can't see us selling him. World cup in the summer and the ultimate shop window. He maybe on the fringes at Uruguay but he usually comes off the bench and we could be looking at the price we want if that goes well.
I just chuckle when I read "poor first touch" "bad work rate" "poor player" "not done it this season" ... or words to these effects. He has excellent first touch, his work rate is better than I expected, he has had a couple of substitute appearances this season, that is all (so it's like saying Jack Cork has been poor this year). It does appear now that he is not going to work out. I defended him to the end last season as I can clearly see what a talented footballer he could be; it just hasn't worked for us, or for him with us. It also seems as if he isn't MPs favourite either. Shame, as I think he has the makings of a great player, but those that say he is a poor player just don't understand talent.
I can only read so much drivel without posting. Life's a bit mad at the moment Dark Lord, but we'll grab a beer between now and xmas.
Ramirez agent saying that he needs to talk to Cortese about offers for Gaston. Yes, if I really wanted something from Nicola I would talk about it in the press....can't fail, can it?
Is this the official Gaston thread then? Good. So how likely does everyone think it is that he will leave in Jan then? I realise his agent is doing his best, but for some reason I get the feeling that Nicola won't be too interested in his sob stories. The only question is will Inter or whoever else pay up, and we're talking about an amount close to what we paid for him I'm guessing. I've got no idea if any of the teams interested have the finances, or a Gaston shaped hole to fill in their team. We'll have to see, but I don't think it's a dead cert that he will leave.
I know nostalgia's not what it used to be but this will have to go some to rival the original Gaston thread!
I don't see why Cortese would be mad or vindictive about the agent going to the press. Sounds like the agent is helping Cortese out. He said that the chairman likes the player and has treated him well, that ultimately Ramirez understands that the coach makes the decisions, and if any team wants Ramirez they need to talk to Cortese and meet his price.
While we have cover for every position, certain 2nd string players aren't quite as reliable as others. Even if he's not our shining light he's certainly worth having around unless we know we can ship him out and get someone as equally talented, but more suited towards our system, in.
