So now that the GG's look to have slipped away we need to start all over again and turn our attention to possible incoming strikers...
Given that chops has moved to Ipswich it looks nailed on that Connor Wickham will play in the premiership next season.
Now, given the inevitable link to the bin dippers..... and also the unwashed rag down the road linking him with a move to the SOS today (£9m??)... ((cough cough))! does anyone feel we're in with a shout.... or more importantly does anyone actually think he could do a job for us?

bit of a risk going in for connor wickham at anything over £4mil (at the very most) hes unproven at the top level. plus he isnt worth the hype he gets from what ive seen

He doesn't look as assured as Carroll did in the Championship, he is a bit younger though. I wouldn't be against signing him (not for £9m though) but we need a proven goalscorer.

    ITFC fan in peace

Don't assume that Chopra has been bought as a replacement, as we were always looking for another striker anyway. He is contracted until 2014 and we don't need to sell. He will go if we get 10-15 Mill, otherwise he'll stay put I reckon. Liverpool have already offered 8 Mill by all accounts.

He's not ideal for short term impact really though.. If we were to buy him this season I would want to buy him with a proven striker, then maybe loan him back to Ipswich

We need someone proven who can definitely score... Someone who definitely has the ability to get 20+ a season, not a teenager from the lower leagues!! And that's not meant to sound dismissive 'cos he is a great talent but not what we need right now

With Ashleys obsession with signing under 25's we ay struggle to get someone in who can deliver the necessary goals for a reasonable fee.... Time will tell...

Isn't a transfer to Liverpool for him practically sealed, or was that just press bullshit? I'd like us to get him, but for what he'd cost it's not the right time for us to buy him really, we need to sort out a first team striker before diverting funds to a striker for the future who may or may not come good.

If he has any sense he will stay at Ipswich for at least another year.
