How can you be so flip, when you are supposed to be arguing for the future of the club you claim to love? Or do you just resort to ridicule when you have no serious answer to give?
It was Assem who stated that he'd give a vote to all season ticket holders, if it was down to me, I'd let anyone vote. Our beloved leader knows he'd lose, so he's telling everyone to **** off, it's an appalling approach.
Do the maths. If you assume a season ticket costs £500, and 200 are returned (and I bet it's nowhere near that many) he will return £100,000. Considering we are asking him to stump up £6,000,000 for Long in January I hardly think £100k is going to make him sweat.
Such a shame he as done this and caused such bad feeling, none of us can understand why he is really trying to do it, Saturday is one of our biggest games of the season very important yet we have all this happening when all we should be doing is getting behind the manager and the team who have nothing to do with it.
Yes. I really have no serious answer to give to your suggestion. You basically just suggested that we give a vote to everyone in Hull, including all the Leeds and Liverpool fans, just because they live in Hull. It's a ridiculous idea and your logic was just that the name of the club has Hull and City in it, so we should open it to everyone in the City of Hull.
You're just being silly. Why would I want hundreds of Leeds United fans to have a say in our name? Never mind the Liverpool and the Man U fans. Assem Allam isn't having a referendum, so there will be no vote. If he thought the franchise too restricted he could have said so. 20,000 is better than none. As OLM said Assem made the offer of the referendum and has now withdrawn it.
Not really, return your season ticket and you are voting against the name change, keep it and you are voting to accept the change. Simple. And all at no cost to you as he's promised you your money back. Go for it. Make your point in the most positive of ways. Hurt him in his pocket.
I'll stand corrected (so hooray for surgical boots) but I'm lead to believe the company name is already taken by a football fan, and the registration of a team with the FA is also (I believe) underway.
We'd have been okay if it wasn't for the away fan vote. It's a nonsense of a vote, and also, he can't change the name yet, so it's irelelvent.
I'd recommend that nobody returns their season ticket. Supporting the team is not supporting the name change, whatever some bonkers old bloke would try and have you believe. I was Hull City fan long before I'd heard of Assem Allam and I'll be one long after he's gone.
Not wishing to be unkind Fez but I have picked up the "intellectual" barb a few times in your comments. It is usually implying your intellectual superiority over the person you are having a go at. I know your posts are often quite lengthy but I think you should know this factor is not a sign of any sort of superiority. If you are an Oxbridge don I apologise
OLM Please just do the march this weekend and film and count the number of participants. Why are you scared to put it to a straight forward test.If not the Palace game(on grounds of short notice) then any game at KC this year. I will stand by the outcome and go with the majority. If we know how many away fans there are we can obviously subtract that number before doing the calculations.
A bit late now, Mr Allam. You could've told us before you went behind our backs & changed the name. Remember we're still HCAFC until this seasons up. The bitterness must be strong with him.
Thanks for your suggestion, but CTWD will continue to run the campaign at their own pace and taking the action that we think best suits that campaign. We will be leafleting at the Liverpool game, ahead of an inaugural meeting ahead of the Stoke game and we'll be launching our membership scheme in the next week. Today's response was expected and will have no bearing on our actions over the next couple of weeks.
We all know that an unbiased vote is the only fair way. Plenty of votes have proven the anti-name change group to be in a vast majority. You're only pushing this march thing because you know how hard it is to get people to march. The only fair way to judge it with marches would be to do an anti-name change and a pro-name change march and see how many each one gets. I'd suspect one of them would total nil.
I actually feel really sad about this on the day Hull has been named City of culture As somebody said this isn't going to end well now with massive divide in our support actually make the club weaker when we should all be getting behind the team for a great season All so avoidable as well apart from one man's arrogance
I too feel that today's fantastic news has been tainted by this ongoing stand-off. For the first time this morning my son and I had a conversation about if we would still go and watch Hull Tigers. We agreed not to decide now but I know deep down how he feels and I suspect he knows what I'm thinking. Bottom lip is quivering....
I have hurt him in the pocket already. I pay to watch Hull City but that is all. Why should I give up fighting for my club's name just because he offers me a few pounds back. The name of our club is Hull City AFC. Our playing name is Hull City. When he puts his application into the FA there will be a vote. On the back of that vote we may well be Hull City next season. Until I've lost I'll stand and fight and watch Hull City.
