Interesting story. If we're not going to have a referendum I wonder how he's going to comply with the Premier League's rules?

    lol thats awesome.

So he's even refunding the balance.

But no, they'll just not buy stuff in the shop.

They won't budge. He won't budge. Noone really wins.

The referendum request was, IMHO, never a serious suggestion and was designed to simply be a publicity stunt. He was never going to agree with it.

This whole issue boils down to the washy-washy regulation that the fans must be consulted. If the authorities mean by that that he merely has to tell people of his intention then the game is up. If they actually want the acceptance of a significant majority of fans then he has a good deal of work yet to do.

I've said it before, but I can only see this ending badly.

Do you honestly think the Premier League are going to stand in his way?

Premier Leagues? I thought it was the FA's he had to comply with?

Also, the info you've posted regarding 3l from the FA just says it has to be applied for, doesn't say anything about a referendum, where's that requirement stated?

He has made his terms of reference very clear, just as I thought he would. My attendance at a game now endorses his claim to the name-change, so, unfortunately, no attendance for me.

Look at the definition of 'Consult' - it's wide open to interpretation.

Unlike you and many others on here, he's probably not trying to burrow deeply into Allam's arse, so why would he care?

Allam is a **** and has single handedly ruined what should have been another glorious time for the club.

No true fan would want this. We all know it.

No he won't, I am aware of that; it's what makes him who he is. :emoticon-0149-no: Thanks for taking the trouble of pointing your wonderful insight out to me; perhaps he will call the team Hull Tygers in honour of your intellectual contribution.:emoticon-0113-sleep

Everyone must follow their own conscience in this, but if there are enough returned passes or denied attendance during his so-called consultation period, then there is a slim chance the name-change will be delayed by a season. To ignore this, attend and then stop attending when the name is changed would be the most bizarre response imaginable. :emoticon-0149-no::emoticon-0149-no:

Just like you I've no idea. The Premier league rules require him to consult with stakeholders. I'm pretty sure a stakeholder includes season ticket holders. Everton have set a precedent on what consultation involves their their badge. I don't know whether the rest of the Premier League will take that as a good example to be followed by all clubs, neither do you. Has Assem Allam built any bridges with anybody other than Vincent Tan? Does he know what Manchester City feel about being called common and renamed Manchester Hunter. Do Swansea and Stoke agree with him? Are they traditionalists and oppose what he's doing? I don't know but its possible. The move to American style names will be historic move for the FA in its 150th year. Its not just about little old Hull City becoming Hull Tigers. Its also about the soul of British football.

BT have usurped Sky for providing football coverage. What is their attitude? Are they selling traditional British football or do they want the razzamatazz of American football. I feel with all eyes on the German model its the former.

The Premier League is run by all 20 clubs. If 18 clubs want to keep their traditional names and not go down the American road they'll have a quiet word first (Nobody tells me how to run my club) and if he continues to be out of step they'll get a bigger stick out. Its an exclusive club and if you don't play by the rules you have to make sure you're too important to get thrown out. To be honest I don't think we qualify as too big.

The answers to all these questions will be known when the FA sit down and vote until then its guesswork.

Many of those loyal to Hull City AFC are liable to drift away, replaced by Premier League fans, who themselves will drift away when there's no success.

Well done Mr Allam, your legacy is as the man that went from hero to zero. You've grasped ridicule from the jaws of public acclaim at great expense and for no real purpose. That's one hell of an achievement.

Exactly! The man has dug such a big hole that he is unable to backtrack. By now he must understand what most people think yet he continues with this insanity. And what an insult to tell fans that don't like it to stay away. He has today with his comments shown people just what he is about and that he coukldnt give a toss about what anyone else thinks.

We expected either a complete rejection(as we've got), or a leading question that made any referendum pointless anyway, we just need him to confirm these things.

I wonder how he feels now we're common enough to be the City of culture. <doh>

As has been said elsewhere, the TRUE test of that name would be to start up a new club called that, and see how many follow them instead of the history that's associated with Hull City AFC. As yet, despite his huff and puff, we're called Hull City, there's nothing he can do about it until April at the earliest.

You know nothing of the sort. You just don't want to hear the views of anyone who disagrees with you. Try putting your fingers in your ears and singing LaLaLa as loudly as you can.

I'm sure if Assem Allam knew you, or even noticed you, he'd think the same of you as you do of him. I certainly do.
