Congratulations B2W, i'm next in Hull in March for a family wedding but the night before i'll be looking forward to a slap up Sushi meal and hitting a few wine bars.
I really hope some good stuff is put into effect as a result of this award - and not the usual 'candy-floss' stuff the City council has been prone to do.
Sore losers and a classless comment from their mayor; yet another stain on their city: âI can only guess that Hull desperately needed a shot in the arm while the judges decided we in Leicester are making our way successfully and didnât need it as much.â http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/LOSE-UK-City-Culture/story-20103877-detail/story.html
Or maybe Mr Mayor of Leicester our bid had more class than yours and the judges recognized the hard work and great effort our team had put in rather than sitting back and just expecting to win it
It's brought a tear to my eye, it was a brilliant bid and all of those involved should be very proud of themselves. Hull and proud.
It is great news and well deserved. Hull - City of Culture. That has a very nice ring to it! Obviously, it is all because I moved back recently...
Did you notice, Mediaman, that as John Humphrys interviewed the Derry woman and Steve Bayes, from Hull (on Radio 4) - Bayes disappeared off-air? Talk about being cut off from the nation!
