I remember the build up to the 1990 WC. After qualification, England had some rank performances and Bobby Robson was getting pelters. The media were on his back and even leaked the story of his retirement after the tournament. We reached the semis that year. The point is, once you qualify for the tournament all these so called preparation games mean nothing. The real deal starts in June and in tournament football a decent draw and a bit of luck can take a team a long way.
