Yup, one lad I played against loved to remind the opposition "I was at United academy and played with Johnny Evans....." , so I simply replied " really? Then why are you here?" Didn't like it much!!!! <laugh>

Another one was ex City and played with Sturridge for a bit before he took off. On the field he was **** but then I got to know him and he turned out sound off the field and then levelled out later with the mouthy antics.

This is a big part of it. I get the wit and kind of dry humor but it is the cocky attitude, the stroll, etc that I target immediately! I am a RB/RW so nothing better than being able to defend them but at the same time have a trick or two to get round them. I can play CM as well but it all depends now on what is needed. I do love to spray the ball about in the middle of the field though.

  3. I can't stand cockiness either. In fact, Play against a lad that I've faced a few times before on Sunday. When I first came up against him, he was only about 17 or 18 and was a right cocky little batard. When the game finished, I realised I wasn't the only one that had noticed and had wanted a 50:50 to come along, there were about seven of us <laugh> He's calmed a lot since then (about five years later) but it doesn't stop the two or three of us that are still there "waiting" so to speak <laugh>

Roles were reversed slightly on Sunday though. I too normally play RB or RW but have played every position going as I'm quite versatile, my downside is a lack of left foot. Every time I've faced him in the past, I've been at RB (played there most by some distance) so he's been attacking and trying to beat me whilst I've been kicking lumps out of him. On Sunday, I only played the last half hour but came on at RW. He was still their LW'er but I was being clever with their FB by hanging back slightly letting our forward distract him before committing myself forward which meant he had to come with me, he doesn't like defending <laugh>

I only started playing RB with the new team as before it was mostly a winger or a CM. I don't mind right back, I find it pretty easy and I like to get forward, but I get giddy when I am told I will be playing in the middle, I really do try to base my girl around Alonso style and spraying the ball about, not afraid to get into a tackle, opening defenses, etc.

I will say though, the ex city kid had a **** attitude but..... his technique of driving a ball, bending a ball, etc was top notch. Hollywood, academy strike, tekkers whatever you want to call it he can certainly move the ball about.

Variety of ways but one of the biggest is first point USA. They have the system locked down pretty well and I know one of the guys who is a key figure head with it ( went trhough first point, came over, did his thing, coaches collegiately now over here and helps provide advice etc).

What do you mean? It is for the British players in a variety of sports who want to come to the US and get their degrees and be able to continue to play sport. I guess it sort of is, more of an oppurtunity type of thing I think.

  10. I thought "second chance" was self explanatory <doh>

Is it for people that have attempted to become something elsewhere but failed so they are able to go there and try again? Or is it open to everyone?

Interesting stuff, I have no idea of the details of these kind of things but he's doing his first coaching badge as soon as he is 16 next year and I know he wants to work within football even if he can't make it as a player.

Love winding players up at football. I don't get flustered in every day life or on a pitch really, so find it hilarious winding others up.

There's this one guy played the last few seasons, and 1 game he threw a punch at me (which the ref didn't bother to send him off for) next game he headbutted me (which again ref didn't send off despite everyone seeing it) and another jumped in two footed to which I managed to jump and avoid and "accidently" land my 2 feet on his leg.

I just laugh at him which seems to get him wound up even more and has so far caused his manager to move him to the opposite wing, and sub him off in the last game.

I tend to find, blowing them a kiss, or laughing at them when they're trying to get angry works best <ok>

CR is a ****, a big whiny one, but he is unreal good. Portugal on the counter with Ronaldo's pace, intelligence, and clinical ability are dangerous. Sepp Blatter is a bit nervous now!!
