Just a little push, tread on a toe, silly little things but if they get wound up very effective. It worked a treat with this lad he had a shocker and just concentrated on mouthing off at my lad all game who will not react to crap like that at all.
Mrs Gonzo... That stuff wouldn't work on me in the way you want it to. I wouldn't react at the time, nor would I get angry, but you can bet your life you'd know about it when a fifty:fifty or tackling opportunity came round
Gotta play hard if you're gonna use those tactics. I've made him well aware of it and he loves doing it he gets a few elbows in return but cards soon get dished out and the opponent is still concentrating on him other than the game. It's all a bit of fun and part of the game imo, the good players laugh it off and then you know you in a match and have to concentrate.
Nothing like beating a mouthy **** with a bit of skill too LG. Then flash a cheeky smile and they are up in arms!!

I've been in that situation a few times. I'm not exactly bothered by those tactics, nor I am adverse to taking such actions myself (not quite nipple pinching levels ). Probably get away with more in leagues other than Sundays too; ie, your less likely to get punched
Exactly it works both ways, I always used those tactics just a little shove or poke in the back to see if they'll react, if they do then you're onto a winner if not then switch on this fella will want to skin you and leave you on your arse. Football is all about concentration if you take that away from a player you've won.
Gonna be honest here..... not all, but a majority of the brits who do come over think they are dogs bollocks and talk it. I used to love ( still do) playing against those players, the brits. Nothing I love more than putting those mouthy ****s in their place and bringing them with a loud thud back down to earth. Again not all, but a majority that come over on scholarships,etc think they can just walk it and the accent alone will carry them. The team I play on in the 3rd tier of the system here has some brits on it but they know that they can't just big time charlie it. EDIT; this comment may ruffle some feathers but it is what it is! It mainly applies to those who at one time were told by whomever they were the next thing and it didn't work out. yet the mentality is still that they are the big thing!
Your spot on mate but the type of player your talking about is probably the same type that my lad played against, he was ex-Plymouth Academy and turned up late then got put straight on cocky as hell. The silly tactics I'm on about are just a way of testing someones mental strength if they can't concentrate after something so daft then what kind of player are they? The ones that react are usually the cocky mouthy ones, the ones that don't can play and I always loved those games as it became a matter of pride i.e I started this now he's not gonna make me look a mug, I always had respect for the ones who ignored it.
TBH, what you said doesn't surprise me. There are a lot of cocky players about over here and considering they've had the bollox to get up and go abroad to try to get somewhere they not exactly the shy type either. Plus, our sense of humour is different to yours too
