Anyone ever read any Stephen R Donaldson? This is the Oath of Peace, as sworn by the Lords: “Do not hurt where holding is enough; Do not wound where hurting is enough; Do not maim where wounding is enough; and kill not where maiming is enough; The greatest warrior is he who does not need to kill”
Never read him [don't like sci-fi] but that oath sounds akin to martial arts philosophy. Thinking about it, I bet there aren't too many hunters who practise martial arts were the main goal is to use the body to reach and learn to master the mind. Once you have mastered your mind you will have no desire to ever fight .... or kill.
I read one book of his and it kind of just wandered all over the place. this should be made into a football analogy. Do not shirt pull where arm holding is enough; Do not elbow where shirt pulling is enough; Do not go over the top where elbowing is enough; and call evra a N not where going over the top of the ball to end his career is enough; The greatest player is he who does not need to cheat to get a champions league (john terry take note)”
look lads, have you ever seen an animal actually slaughtered? or have you ever should i say seen what really goes on daily rather than the humane line? In short i never said i agreed with this woman merely i find it rather pointless to jump all over her as shes the easy target and still nobody is answering my point on the SA allowing this or encouraging or whatever, again are the culling animals needed to be culled this way or destroying their wildlife for profit I don't know still. again.. whether you agree with her or not (and i said i don't really care) i'm just pointing out its rather easy to bomb her facebook and twitter while the rest goes on. I personally think Df has it quite right that this kind of stuff is more in the realm of teddy roosevelt and should have been left there but lets get real, its a vicious natural world out there and if you want to shoot something you can pay and the majority of the planet seems to endorse this from japan killing whales to eastern europe allowing tourists shoot just about anything to SA and safari. Now if we had miley cyrus going and shooting something or shock daring to wear fur I'm sure she'd get bombed too... in short why is it the same? cos its all about attention seeking. I don't want to care about this woman cos the day before yesterday nobody knew her and if she posted it to get attention she probably succeeded and is delighted.
Mito nobody said you agree with what she did, for me it's the fact you don't care that worries me. I understand your viewpoint since you backed it up with your personal experience and I acknowledge that being raised on a livestock farm gives you a different perspective on animal killing. The fact that SA has made an industry out of this 'sport' is only one part of the issue and yes it has been going on long enough that if people were against it they should have done something about it - what that would look like, I don't know. The fact it happens is shocking enough but what is equally abhorrent is that this woman, who hosts a hunting show on tv, has a website with a 'trophy room' gallery for interested parties to view, looks for interesting species in parts of the world that she'd love to bag and quite frankly lusts over her spoils, isn't content with all of that but wants to share it with the world labelling her latest victims haul as 'an incredible day'. It smacks of sociopathic personality disorder and is as far away from the sort of animal slaughtering that is done for our daily feed, as can be. If I thought the meat I ate was killed with this un-natural amount of joy, I would be vegetarian, no question. You say she's 'an easy target', I think you got her and the lion mixed up!
Yes on both counts, I live in a rural community, next door to a farm mate. But merely by raising that analogy again, you're showing that you've totally missed the point being made here. It's the notion of some daft bint somehow trying to glorifying herself with the death of a majestic wild animal, that she's paid a heinous amount to 'hunt' that's the issue & the sad indictment on the human condition, that her motives display.
yes but wheres the hate for the SA selling her the right is what i keep asking. Again i really couldn't care less about her personally. nor the daft amount that you keep posting. if thats what she paid yeah its daft but go talk to andre wisdom who planking his 911 in a bog while on laon... people have money... we don't.. so being annoyed by thier money won;t stop them spending it how they feel. So tobes basically while i might not agree with her i fail to raise much more than a shrug at her antics. If we want true conservation running about hating on the net aint the way to get it.
"New Word... ****ing; verb. The act of cowardly hunting. ie Hiding behind a bush with a rifle when the animal has no gun and can't get to you." When I was a kid our next door neighbour , who was in the TA, had an Alsation bitch that was unneutered. When it was in heat every dog within a mile radius was trying to get in their back. He used to put on his combat gear and, truly, he hid behind the shed with an air rifle and would shoot at dogs that got into his back garden, and then jump back behind cover as if they'd shoot back. Inevitably, I suppose, he shot our collie as it tried (without success) to get through the fence, and the vet who dug out a pellet an inch away from our dog's heart, reported him to the RSPCA, who in turn prosecuted him. He denied all knowledge, thenough to stop him.n tried to say the dog had injured himself on the fence, then said it was a warning shot that ricocheted of the fence... Point is, the guy was mental, and when he left the TA, some time after the family moved away after the dog business, he joined a gun club. You'd think the fact a jerk like that wanted a gun would be reason enough to stop him. I ****ing hate guns.
I've been reading into this and it seems there's a thing in SA called canned hunting which basically runs like this - there are farms that rear lions, gazelles, zebra, wildebeest etc specifically for hunting which takes place in vast fenced enclosures so the animals have no escape. They are stalked and killed by tourists willing to pay the price. There was a move in 2010 by the SA government to regulate it to the point of banning it altogether but when the case was brought to the high court they were defeated by the 'farmers' who put forward a counter case - and so it continues. Shocking. This woman was part of one of those tourist parties. Now that she's named and shamed herself to the world maybe some outside force can be placed on these 'farms' to have them shut down.
Your thought process is bizarre lad, Andre Wisdom being a dope in a Porsche, has no relevance whatsoever to a woman who's paid not far off the average gross annual British income, to entitle her to shoot a Lion in the noggin. If you can't raise more than a shrug at people who take pleasure in this form of activity, then I don't think you're wired up right personally.
Obviously, this is a old thread created by me so I'm expecting some sort of bumping **** to be thrown in my direction. However, I have just come across this so thought it would be more appropriate to post it on here than create a new one:
meh.... i was wonder why it was back, its just the illegitimate brother acting like a countryman. i short there are two types of conservationist in my opinion. those who live in cities or at least away from the realities of nature on a day to day basis.. these seem to believe steak comes from trees and all life is precious or something. i dunno really something like how dare he do one thing then another the opposite which is half related but only in name. then there are those who live in the countryside and see the whole thing as a natural resource to be preserved and its fine to shoot a buffalo or bison or wildebeest but also great to save an endangered species. In short... you can actually be for conservation and also shoot one animal. its not a mutually exclusive gig. that said i'd have zero interest in shooting an animal for sport. (or chasing it with a dog or whatever) ....
Interesting it's only come to light now, but I believe in the saying 'when you know better, you do better'. It was 10 years ago, his view has probably changed.
bet its not bet he'd go hunting if he thought he could. hell bet on the estates in scotland a few grouse are weeping for thier mates. who knows...
