Sorry for holding the thread up. As it's international football day, my question is on that subject. Which country is the latest to be accepted by UEFA? Clue...they will play their home matches in Portugal as their own ground does not meet UEFA requirements.
Remind me, which continent is Israel in? Cape Verde, besides being the wrong answer obviously, is a Portuguese colony.
Correct Tramore. They are playing 200 miles away in Portugal. I suppose Malaga's ground is a lot closer but they couldn't possibly play there for political reasons. Over to you Tramore.
As most of us know Munster is a province in Ireland, but where does Munster cheese come from.......country & region and a Brucie bonus if you can name a wine variety that compliments it!!!!!
Nope.......but not necessarily a million miles away either...... Edit......Liebfraumilch.......not a variety of wine, that's something produced in the lab.......
Not a million miles away? Alsace then, with A Reisling to accompany? At last a question I can have a guess at!
Munster cheese comes from the Munster valley in Alsace and is therefore French. Because it's a German speaking region the classical wine accompaniment is a Gewürztraminer (don't think there's an English translation).
Spot on Cologne, although terryb deserves an honorable mention for being the first to answer Alsace.......nothing beats a nice glass of Gewurtztraminer.... My bit for the Alsace tourist board.....if you ever have a spare few days go there, it is the most beautiful area and the route de vin is a joy to drive, plus you get the chance to sample (drink) some glorious wines that you simply can not get either here or in th UK....and it's only 7 or 8 hours drive from Calais. Cologne I see you are what no more than a couple if hours from that region, do you visit or do you have enough good German wines to keep you occupied?
The closest wine region to where we are is the Ahrtal which produces the most northerly red wine in Germany (about 50 km south of Bonn) we do manage to get down there sometimes. O.K. My question doesn't take us too far from Alsace. Why did the Swiss government threaten to stop diplomatic relations to China in 2001 ?
I an attempt to take-back/over this thread and return it to its natural course Roller....I am sure you are right....TAKE IT AWAY ROLLER PLEASE!!!!!!!! With a question ......
It does indeed, unless I've missed something earlier in the thread. The clue is it's something distinctively Swiss.
