Because that is their job. Knockaert isn't paid to defend. He can't do it (5 yellow cards says it all).
Wolves will have no choice ... Sako is a genuine Premiership potential footballer playing in League One ... very doubtful that he will stay the season at Wolves .. will either go to a Prem team or a Championship team that looks to have promotion prospects ... IMHO he would be the type of 'stellar' signing that would boost our promotion push on many different levels ... not least by putting a few more bums on seats ... he is a game changer and currently we don't have enough of those ....
So imagine King and Drinkwater having to cover both Sako and Knockaert. We would get over run in midfield
... alternatively ... just make Sako and Knocky run back ... they aren't good enough for a Berbatov exemption yet
I can't see Sako on Nigel's radar though. I think he will look for a more industrious player like Dyer
I´m still getting over the Trees result & I know I´ve said it a 1000 times before, but our DEF will be our down fall this season if it´s not sorted out & made tighter than a ducks arse at 50 fathoms. A winger would be nice too & yes maybe THAT goal getting FOR. I thought we´d got him in Wood, but now I´m not so sure. DN minus his pens has not done alot really. GT-F should be given a go maybe, BUT I would stick with JV.
Sako scored 10 and had 11 assists for Wolves in the Championship last season in 39 appearances ... and in a season disrupted by injury and, lets face it, playing in a pretty poor team ... as I said previously, he is a game changer ... could get him for a relative song now, given he's in L1... if we should get promoted (and that's still a very big 'if') we would have a player very likely to be a success in the Prem ... not sure we have many more right now.
And if we don't go up the consequences of signing Sako will cost us a lot more £££ then he is worth I rate Sako very highly don't get me wrong but he would be a risky signing with the price tag. He is very talented but so was Max Gradel
.. if we didn't go up ... yet he proves as good as we both think (expect), we'd have the option of selling him on at the end of the season to a Prem team (possibly a promoted one) for a pretty tidy profit ... for me it's a no brainer if a deal can be done ...
And as I said whats happens if he is another DJ Campbell, Max Gradel, Jermaine Beckford Very good player at other clubs but dont work out here
We'll be lucky to sign 1 in January. The squad has proved its better this season and i think the only thing that may need strengthening is a goalscorer, but they are far too expensive in January.
That depends since Nigels return his best signing have come in January. Danny Drinkwater, Ben Marshall, Wes Morgan and Chris Wood all signed in January
... I've seen enough of him already to know that he's a far better player than Dudley or Beckford ...as for Gradel, let's hope Nigel's man management skills have come on Leeds made a tidy profit ... but other than the fact that he asked not to play when his future was in doubt, the lad has shown no sign of being 'petulant' and he can certainly finish as we know ... as said before - would love to sign him.
Gradel did work out here imo, some of the games i went to see he was playing great (be it in league 1), worked out best for us in the long run, if Gradel hadn't have left, we probably wouldn't have Knockeart now.
Gradel is pretty much the reason people say that Nigel can't 'man-manage'. Beckford the same. But it's simply that you have to set the side up around the two of them, neither of them were good enough to do that. Beckford was an utter shambles, whereas Gradel was O.K. Neither of them were good enough but we did let Gradel slip for a tiny fee.
Gradel was a livewire. He had passion which I had no problem with, at times he was petulant like I remember Stockport away he was very lucky not to have got sent off. He needed management but he just wanted to play football Where as Campbell and Beckford just didnt really care about the club. We paid big money and they didnt perform
I agree entirely. Gradel celebrated the most when we won the league. Well, apart from Astrit Ajdarević
When Gradel came to us you could see he had discipline problems. The season after he got frustrated easily but not to the point of getting sent off or even booked for that matter, he came a long way in the off season (I think most of that was to do with the fact he got sent off against Bristol Rovers in the last game of the season and almost cost us promotion, fans were certainly on his back after that). Then the season after he was too big for his boots and I could see his bad attitude/discpline problems returning, think we got rid at the right time to be honest (albeit cheaper than we perhaps could've gottne). On the other hand, I don't see any Gradel in Sako. Think he would be a class signing for any championship club, it is yet to be seen whether he'd be able to take the step up to prem but he certainly has the potential to be a prem player. For his career, he should go to a champ club in january I think
Just a winger on loan who can cover either wing. Marshall is a miss in terms of squad depth. We have 3 good strikers and then Hopper as 4th which is fine. Plus GTF as well. Not sure why people think we need a striker. We can good def cover and a top keeper with adequate back up. Just a winger really as whenever Dyer or Knocky cant play/ under-perform we are in trouble.
