I hope he proves me wrong and he deserves time to do so, but I'm struggling to see how Aspas fits into the team. Decent squad player ATM but I don't think he'll cut it in the long term. As I said though, I hope he proves me wrong
In line with that finding his position. He is certainly an option but when Borini comes back will it be enough to have two players who are simply options and not pushing the players ahead and keeping them on their toes/taking their spots?
Not IMO. Every player should be vying for a first team spot. Not saying those two won't be trying because you can bet your bottom dollar they will be, but are they good enough? It'll obviously take time to get to that stage too though.
I haven't made my mind up on him yet. Every player bought isn't going straight into the first team so they're not all vying for places, some are just squad players - Borini I think fits this bill - but Aspas could be regular first team if he works hard and stays fit.
I thought he was very positive during pre-season and he looked good against Stoke on the opening day. Struggled ever since. Think he does have what it takes to be a solid squad player but will need to improve.
So there are a few points here. 1. suarez is in so this guy coming back now needs to find a real role for hismelf thats distinct form the main man. 2. i beleive he is simply not at the races and never will be... however.... 3. I think he needs to do the basics. all he did so far was get beaten to the ball, lose the rare ball he got to or get a yellow. he needs to get out in front of players, get the ball in space and lay it off or turn. focus on getting frees, throws something positive out of each possession. In short the game is too quick for him and he needs to get out in front of it to give himself time to work in. 4. I'd hoped he'd play like kuyt wide but thus far he's been nowehre near anything that kuyt did so i have little hope for this 7mil investment.
I'm not sure what Aspas's best position is. He doesnt look like a central striker or false 9. In a traditional 442 he could possibly be a second striker type. But in modern football I'm not sure he has the right skills. Wide forward is probably it. But from what I'v seen I prefer Borini in that role.
maybe so. I think he's going to struggle in the top 4 arena which makes his purchase strange for me... we will certainly see his fight and will to succeed anyway... its not enough though.
