Answer me this riddle. If it was only champions as in the old way, UNited would have less as 99 wouldn't exist and Liverpool would have 4 as 2005 wouldn't exist or 2007. So, it is easier by simple logic, we have MORE titles both United and Liverpool because you now dont have to be champion to get in to the CL. I think that sums it up with facts and not opinion

How does this work then. Under the old format and united being 12 times PL champions I can say with huge confidence we would of won many CL titles. As it is with the huge number of top quality teams now involved its much harder to win.

Like I said earlier, In their 4 cup triumphs in the 70's and 80's they only encountered Benfica twice, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich once. In 99 we played Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Juventus all in the same campaign. You would never have seen that back in the 70's and 80's. The best thing about all of this is most of you on here were probably not even alive during Liverpool's dominance so you can go off TV clips and newspaper reports etc but you will have never seen your side dominate like we have. How does that feel? How does it feel to never have seen your team lift the League title?

it is all very interesting but if you had to be champions you would have less CL titles as would Liverpool how is this so if it is harder, if it was harder to qualify as in you have to be champs surely the math is easy United 2 Liverpool 4.

This is the best. You talk as if United are the only side to get hammered. I have seen Liverpool take a few hammerings. Battered by Benfica when holders of the Champions League, 3-0 by United when it should have been 6. 4-0 by United when it should have been 8. If all you have to berate us over last season is being beaten by Barcelona in a Champions League Final then it shows how high you hold Manchester United.
