Sturridge apparently limped out of a training session with a thigh injury and is doubtful for the game against Germany. Is he going to make the derby? It's bad enough that Suarez will be travelling back on Thursday to play Saturday lunchtime without having Sturridge out as well.
****ing ****ing international games, such a piss-take, the game against chile was the biggest waste of time ever
"Chile are a good side and we played a weakened side with a few first caps. I think the Germany game may show more as we will play a stronger team. I do think we should arrange a few more friendlies against south american opposition and play our best 11 before the world cup or it could be an embarrassing tournament." Above is what Garlic Bread suggested on the international break thread. FFS
First I thought it was a joke. Reds derby fear as Sturridge limps out of England training Daniel Sturridge was unable to complete a full training session with England, raising doubts about his participation in Tuesday’s game against Germany. Sturridge trained with his England team-mates for 45 minutes on Monday morning before he left the training field with physio Steve Kemp. The Liverpool FC striker has been carrying a thigh injury but said on Sunday that he was happy to play against the Germans. Sturridge was not hobbling when he walked off the pitch, but the fact that he did not complete the session will be a concern for manager Roy Hodgson the day before the clash with Joachim Low's men at Wembley. The good news for Hodgson is that captain Steven Gerrard , striker Rickie Lambert and defender Kyle Walker all trained despite missing the defeat to Chile last week through injury. Jack Wilshere was also present despite suffering a dead calf at Wembley last Friday. Joe Hart, who has been on the bench for the last four Manchester City games, looked keen to impress, taking to the field 30 minutes early along with fellow goalkeepers Fraser Forster and John Ruddy. After 30 minutes of aerobic work, Hodgson's squad split in to two teams for a practice match. The line-ups gave a hint as to who may start the Friendly against Germany. Walker, Chris Smalling, Phil Jagielka and Ashley Cole lined up in front of Hart in what looked to be the first-choice XI. The midfield consisted of Gerrard, Tom Cleverley, Adam Lallana and Andros Townsend. Wayne Rooney sat just behind Sturridge up front. Everton midfielder Ross Barkley replaced Sturridge when he went off, with Rooney pushing forward into the main striker’s position. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/reds-derby-fear-sturridge-limps-6315603
Oliver Kay‏@OliverKayTimes4m Hodgson says Daniel Sturridge is fine to play for England v Germany tmrw despite not completing training session this morning
**** Sake. Why split the competitive season for a bunch of non-competitive internationals? End the season sooner and play a run of international games before the major tournament, would better build team unity and with the season out of the way, Hodgson would already have seen how the season played out and who is best for the team.
Sky Sports News‏@SkySportsNews8m England team to face Germany: Hart, Cole, Jagielka, Smalling, Walker, Cleverley, Gerrard, Lallana, Rooney, Townsend, Sturridge
I can only imagine the levels of fume on here tomorrow night, if Sturridge & Southport's biggest Phil Collins fan, both end up limping out of the England friendly.
It will be high! Do Belgium play again? Lukaku is pretty key to you lot as well, although not sure if he will start or not.
The international break is for the World cup playoffs, so its got be now. So everyone not involved in the play offs, arrange these sh**e friendlies.
