I thought they would have appointed a new manager by now. Maybe they're in a bigger mess then they're letting on.
Pulis has turned them down leaving Petrescu and Dowie and if they want Petrescu they have to pay £2million compensation.
The relatively new Palace board are, I believe, trying to attempt, no doubt with difficulty, to not get the club into massive debt. I believe they would like to appoint Pulis, and if not their second choice would probably be Pet Rescue. However the reality of their situation, that being their current league position, which probably means that they are doomed whoever they appoint, and on that basis there's a possibility that they could go for the much cheaper option of Dowie. That's how I see it anyway.
Im pretty sure you're right. Ive no doubt they wanted a manager appointed straight after the last game giving them 2 weeks with the squad and the fact they havent speaks volumes. It's all better for us anyway. All their players are thinking about now is not getting injured until a new boss is appointed.
If Dowie has a decent contract at Sky (he's a match day pundit for those who don't watch Sky Sports) then it would take a huge carrot to tempt him away and back into the short-term unpredictability of management.
Maybe, but possibly not as huge a carrot as Pulis or Pet rescue, and after spending £8M on Dwight whatsisname, plus probably wages on a par with that fee, I don't think the Palace board have the money to throw around. I'd love to see Shrek there to be hoest
Hmm, he could be a PL manager with Burnley come the end of the season. Not really worth moving if you're going to be back in the Championship come May.
Latest today is that nothing has been sorted just yet. Whilst Dan Petrescu is keen on the Palace job both parties are still a way from an agreement. Dont look likely anything will happen before the weekend. Next week Palace go to Norwich and that could well be interesting if Norwich slip up.
That's got to be bad news for us. If I was Palace fan though Id be asking why this wasnt sorted 10 days ago isntead of pissing around? 2 weeks of uninterrupted work wouldve made a hell of a difference and is basically a mini pre-season for tactical work.
They made him an offer + he turned it down. They looked at Coleman and Pet rescue - Coleman stayed with Wales and Pet was too expensive. So they went back to Pulis with an improved offer
Hopefully negotiations will drag on for another day or two so we're not a victim of 'new manager syndrome'. If he's appointed tomorrow he'll probably just watch from the stands on Saturday. If it's today then I expect we'll see him in the dug-out. Mind you what's the worry ? It's only Palace - they're **** anyway
