I don't really understand this.I usually spend a little time considering my predictions.Being Internationals I had no interest whatsoever so spent about thirty seconds (And gave England the benefit of the doubt with a draw when my gut feeling was a defeat) It yielded either my best score or second best, the other one being the last round of Internationals!
Balls, I completely missed this this week and stupidly didn't realise we were doing internationals again - bugger! Ah well, give you all a chance to catch me up
Just an idea to tweak this, but how about where someone misses a week they can apply for a standard points allocation? ( I would suggest ten points) Obviously people don't do it deliberately and it might prevent people giving up.10 points a week would place you about two thirds of the way down the table. Also, and I hate to say this,Lawro should really qualify during the International breaks.
Or how about if you do miss a week as I did a couple of times, you receive -1 from the lowest score of those that did post predictions. Means you get something and don't fully drop out of the running.
The reason I chose ten points was that if you forecast all ten games according to the most likely winner you are pretty much certain to get five of those right with maybe a 50% chance of a correct score in one of them.On that basis our predictive powers don't look so good. But that is probably what we like about football.
I think to be honest it would be harsh if somebody who didn't predict could score higher than someone who did and who scored less than 10 points. I reckon if anything like that was introduced it would have to be the lowest score of the week that was given to whoever missed. I've got no excuse for last week, I predicted when it was internationals previously so I really should have known and am more than happy to take it on the chin, however I do appreciate there are weeks when people are unable to predict through reasons beyond their control.
