Got it wrong. Kingfisher was corner of Linnaeus and Gt Thornton St, its gone. Coxswain on Walker St. Both dumps anyway. Rose on Sykes St I remember wheres Hopwood St
Runs off Peel Street and right-angles into Leonard Street. But...my mistake - it was Kingston New Inn! (Rose might have been the landlady's name?)
The George needed a refurb IMO, last time I was in there was before the smoking ban & judging by the aroma & clouds of smoke in the back room it was full of pot heads !!
The Eagle on Spring Bank(now under different name).1972 I walked in and a guy stood at the bar supped half a pint of mild in one go.He had quite a hooter and what looked like 2 pints came out of his nose in a frothy mess.A guy next to him simply called him a dirty bastard and did nothing to help him but laugh. So kids when you hear people on here banging on about the good old days-it is bollocks.Always been good and bad people. Centre Bar is up for sale.
Is "Nellies" still open in Beverley ? Forget it's proper name, but it was opposite the Church on the road to Hornsea...not the Minster, the other one ?
Can you remember the bonny lasses who used to run Nellies and swill all glasses in the same bowl of water.I always ended up with a cold a few days after(I think I picked up germs from those from the West of the city) They would not serve women.
That bad? I know it had a refit earlier this year. Love Courts. Always full of MILF's I always use to get DJ to put Stone Roses songs on.
That's the one Stanley...on Hengate...cheers. Also, LATE NIGHT BUS must be younger than me 'cos the "bonny lasses" swilling out the glasses in the plastic bowls on the table when I was "illegally" drinking in there in the early '60s must have been in their 70's themselves. Turned a blind eye to the "under-age" lads if they behaved themselves ( & got tuppence tips ?). Don't remember getting colds mind....just severe hangovers ! Great memories. Loved the Green Dragon in the Market Square in those days too. Cheers lads.
