United expect and set out to win every game (especially at your place) but this year you beat us. Fair enough...

Every team is set out with the aim to win a game, in fact they do that for every game. Expectation is different, you don't expect to win every game do you? You aim / hope to, but you don't expect to
bollocks! only team that could probably get away with that argument is Arsenal considering they have managed to go a whole season unbeaten, no other fecka has managed it yet.
I don't think losing points away to the other top teams is a disaster and a draw is a bonus the secret is beat the lower teams away and not lose the top teams at home. If you are dropping points at home to teams like Newcastle, WBA, West Ham and losing away to teams like Sunderland, Cardiff,Aston Villa etc this is when winning at Home and not losing away to the top teams becomes more important and puts the pressure on.
The reality is that even playing away at some of these so called smaller teams you are going to drop points. This is going to happen to all the top teams. Liverpool is going to have to get points away to these top clubs and I cannot see it happening at the moment.
You want at least a point. That way you also stop the other contender getting 3 points and moving away from you..
take your word for it Smithy, but against the top teams any point away from home is a bonus, remember one season we had no problems getting points against them, home and away, it was the teams we should have beaten we ****ed up in, (cant remember if it had an effect on where we finished?) might have just scraped top4 or just missed out not sure, points against the top teams is important, but even they **** up against lower placed teams, ideally you don't want to **** up as much as they do, not sure getting points against them is as important as points against the rest, obviously it would if you was aiming for the title, but we need to walk again before we can run.
That applies to the season we finished second. Only lost twice and were top of the 'mini-league' between.us and the other big clubs.
This season is different to previous seasons. There were two outstanding teams in the past, and for those beating lower teams was as important as (if not more than) getting points from top teams. This season any team can beat the other. Apart from a few relegation candidates, mid table teams can and will pick up points from so called top teams specially at home. Just beating these lower teams won't be enough...
I'd go along with that but will add that at this stage every season it looks like its going to be a more open affair, very rarely does it materialise though as teams drop away. To refer to the season we finished second again; it was a three/four horse race at this stage of the season. It was still three come Christmas but come the end of the season (last three or four games) it was barely two. Basically, all I'm saying is its a long season and anything can happen.
I don't care who is actually top in january. I hope we are but if we are in the top 4 I'll be happy. I'll be delighted if we are top at the end of the season and very happy if we are in the top 4. I'll also be very pleased to see United in 7/8th and below Everton
