I have always said the big test of Moyes will come in two years when major changes will have to be made, we can scrape some more from the old guys for that long if we use them correctly.
Just like as a "realistic" Liverpool supporter who looked at the first set of fixtures at the start of the season I did "expect" us to be in the top four.
Fair enough Billy, if that is the case you were quite correct sir (did you expect to be second and only two points off top come mid November?).
Gerrez, Arsenal can`t handle the bad weather, United, City, Chelsea are meh at the moment, your form has been good since January and i see no reason why it should suddenly drop. I will say this on this thread only and hope it never grts read by anyone else or i could be in deep **** on my own board
No disresepect intended but we've only played Arsenal of note so far. You guys were poor when we faced you and we should have beaten everyone else on paper. I'll reserve judgement until the end of 2013 when we face trips to WHL, Eastlands and Stamford Bridge in the space fourteen days with Cardiff at home sandwiched inbetween. Ps...no disrespect to Swansea, Newcastle or Southampton intended
No, there's no point pretending you can predict exactly how many points you will be on or what position you will be (then you'd have to exactly predict the results of everyone). I actually expected both Chelsea and Tottenham to start better as it happens. However looking at our fixtures I made an educated guess as to roughly how many points we should and could get. I'd say we're about where I expected yeah.
You are looking at names only here, Southampton are a team "of note" this season and if they stay injury free will finish in a high possition!
Sorry Billy, was being a bit pedantic withe the "expected possition" comment, top four was well within your expectations this season but i am surprised at how close to top you actually are.
One of the few sensible things you have said recently... Simple reason is that on current form and squad strength there are 4 better teams than Liverpool (some could argue even 5). #hatetoagreewithhim
"Simple reason is that on current form and squad strength there are 4 better teams than Liverpool " ? probably 4 better teams on paper, but how the **** can you use the logic on current form when we are the one in 2nd place?
My opinion on this is that we are where we are and if we can stay around the top 4 spots until January and bring a player or two in then we certainly have a very good chance of a very good season. I don't want to start picking positions we just need to take each game as it comes and see where we end up. I agree with Sm1thys point that we will have to beat top sides to stay up there but we are capable of that at home, away from home we'll have to see if we are up to the task.
I mean exactly that. If you look at the matches played so far. Liverpool have played against 2 of the top 8 teams whilst United have played 5 and Chelsea 4. If you had played the same number of top teams as Chelsea or United, on current form (based on your performances against the lower teams and also against Arsenal) you would have had fewer points.
