Chile doing very well at forcing Lallana and Rodriguez back. You have to say on this evidence they're a much better team.
They're a very good team. Worthy of reaching the latter stages in Brazil. This is them without Vidal as well.
Impossible to judge whether they are a better team in my opinion. They are playing against a reshuffled deck. They definitely counter we'll. Anyway, Lallana has done well. Rodriguez has defended well but done little on the ball.
It's a shame Rodriguez looks so hesitant, when he's not pressing he doesn't really know where to position himself on the wing, he seems to be doing more of a defensive role. Perhaps this cap came too soon for him, because he does look a little out of his depth to me, hopefully he gets a good chunk of the second half to improve. Lallana looking decent if not as good as he normally does to me, he seems to be more dangerous drifting inside, although I feel Hodgson may prefer him playing a more disciplined role on the right.
So frustrating to see our two guys get a chance to play for England when its effectively an England B team. Lallana has been reasonably bright but imho overall the team has been very poor. Chile will win this unless something drastic changes.
Rodriguez is getting into good forward positions as well, with a bit more luck, and without Lallana taking Rooney's pass off him, he might even have scored.
I think this England team could be improved with a few changes. Clyne for Johnson. Shaw for Baines. JWP for Milner. Cork for Lampard. Lambert for Rooney. Then things will look a bit better
Rodriguez does look a little hesitant, but it doesn't help when players are leaving you out of the loop, as far as passing is concerned. I came in late to watched only the latter half of the first half, and only Lallana seems to have passed to him. Lallana looks fine. He's not so dominant as he is for Saints, but he looks perfectly ok in the company. If the England team want to press then they need to do it the way Saints do it, but they're disjointed. Our lads are doing it, but the rest aren't. And I also dislike the way the usual player are getting all the possession but aren't doing anything special with it. Wilshere is frankly rubbish and Rooney isn't going to score, so don't especially seek him out, would be my advice - unless he takes up the best position. That was 45 minutes. I hope Roy doesn't make loads of changes, but I hope he gets the team to press and to let Lallana and Rodriguez have their chance.
ITV's punditry is useless because it is continually interrupted by adverts. They can't get a conversation going.
I see a couple of England subs are being warmed up. What's the betting Rodriguez gets taken off..? Which would be a shame because he needs every minute. Lallana I'm not worried about in the slightest.
