Gaston Ramirez could bring his difficult Southampton career to an end by moving back to Italy. The Uruguayan became the Saintsâ record signing when he joined from Bologna for £12m in August 2012 but he is struggling to get in the starting XI now. The scintillating form of English talents like Adam Lallana, James Ward-Prowse and Jay Rodriguez has forced the attacking midfielder down the pecking order. Ramirez failed to even make the squad for the visit of Hull last weekend but he did feature for the final 20 minutes of his countryâs 5-0 World Cup play-off win over Jordan on Wednesday and he is still highly regarded on the continent. And Corriere dello Sport now claims some of the fresh investment Interâs new Indonesian owners will provide will be spent on Ramirez.
I don't think he should be sold until we have sign a suitable attacking mid replacement. If we have a couple of injuries he could be in the first team! We don't gave a huge squad. I think it's a similar situation to cork we need these back up players we don't need to sell!
Good player but not suited to us and probably not suited to the PL at all. Sure he will do well back in Italy and people will question NC ability for letting him slip away
Wow this is news to me. Reads like a cut and paste job. [apologies to the newish-bie for my cynicism]
With incoming young talent like James Ward-Prowse etc we don't need £12m back-up player with him struggling to get in the starting 11 let him go and spent fee from Ramirez sale and bring one or two more players
He's had more threads than Premier League appearances. I was there for one of his rare PL goals (at home vs Spurs, how many PL goals did he score?). It was well taken. Also there for his red card. I fondly remember the 'guess who's car this is' post (it was Gaston's Mustang). But no, sad to say he won't be missed.
Weather its cut and paste job or not it just information I found and easy to just paste it also so if I am newbie
I am wondering who will make the decision? The Club, his agent or himself, watching the training videos he shows no inclination to be wanting away, he is laughing and joking with the rest of them. I imagine his report would be a bit like mine (fifty odd years ago), "Has the brains but doesn't use them!" The word "brains" to be replaced by talent in this case.
I've been holding out hope that he would come good for a long time but it just seems destined to not work out for him here, I still believe he has big potential but if we could sell him in January for £10m I'd move on from the situation happy. I don't think we'll draw offers in that area though and don't think Nicola will be happy to take a big loss on an asset that still has plenty of possible value so wouldn't be surprised to see him go on loan back to Italy.
There been more threads regarding Gaston Ramirez playing in first team to transfers rumours and if this one has already been posted apologies
No need to apologise, just give more than a Cut & Paste job when starting a new thread, next time. Your opinion would be a very good idea [that was NOT meant to be patronising even if it reads like it]. Haven't noticed you before so welcome to the forum.
