http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11704_6979498,00.html Awww...bless... Good luck wherever you end up! I'm very interested to see how his form plays out after we (DJ) managed to be the only team to see him play consistently well for any period of time...
I have always been a big fan of Bothroyd, he may look lethargic but I really think he is the player that took us from play-off hopefuls to promotion contenders. Before him we finished mid-table and the three years since we finished 7th, 4th and 4th. I think he is a class act and we will miss him a lot next season. I'm secretly hoping he returns after finding no suitable club!
He also took us from being promotion contenders to play-off hopefuls (obviously not just him). IF a deal could be done that suited CCFC, especially if he couldn't find a suitable club, it could be the reality check he needs but I'd expect to see an all round vast improvement (starting with longer studs )
ive said it before, he was a good player, but he was here for 3 years and left, we need to move on really, he probably left because he wanted too much money when offered new deals, he is most certainly not a legend or anywhere near so, just a player who came here, did well, and will personally benefit from it (we dont get a fee for developing him into a quality player).
Its like Messi saying he wouldn't come to Cardiff, and Cardiff fans say well we don't want him anyway!!! Typical jax, I bet there are 1000's of players they "don't want" Rooney, Drogba, S Gerrard, Terry, Lampard, Ramsey, Ronaldo, Wilshire, Silva etc. etc.
Typical jax, I bet there are 1000's of players they "don't want" Rooney, Drogba, S Gerrard, Terry, Lampard, Ramsey, Ronaldo, Wilshire, Silva etc. etc. Sorry but what? I'd take all the above players mentioned. If you think that is a "typical jax" attitude then i suggest you keep your opinions to yourself because that's embarassing.. the fact he is an ex-cardiff player is obviously a factor, on BOTH sided judging by his comments and the swansea fans comments, but Cardiff and Swansea play 2 vastly different styles of football, with JB being suited to your , more direct, style, and the fact he is so used to that style means that no matter how many goals he scored last season, or who he played for is irrelevant, because he just doesn't suit our passing style, he is a more direct forward. So prophet really, before you slag off every jack, think before you post...
WalesForever Sorry but what? I'd take all the above players mentioned. If you think that is a "typical jax" attitude then i suggest you keep your opinions to yourself because that's embarassing. You may be one of the many decent jax out there I don't know. I have enjoyed banter with many of them. and suffered abuse from many others..............but if you don't want to read Cardiff fans "views" then don't come on to Cardiff posts, I suggest that if you can't recognise tongue in cheek banter when you see it, then I suggest YOU keep your opinions to yourself, because that's REALLY embarassing. "Think brfore you post" Whilst we are quoting truisms here is one for you "Practice what you preach" And betterr still if you can't recognise banter.............well preach it on your own board.
Hhmm - not sure I would compare Boothryd to Messi! ...I think most likely the statement is based on the fact that there are other, bigger clubs interested. Celtic, Everton... I very much doubt he would choose us over them. Players like Warren Feeney and Dai Thomas have played for both teams without too much of a fuss but the significant factor was that they were both bobbins. When it is a very good player and there is a significant rivalry then it's never going to be worth it - esp. with alternatives like Everton and Celtic sniffing around. Would the Swans even be able to pay half what they could? I would have been delighted if it could have happened but, with Danny Graham about, I'm not sure how well he would cope with the possibility of being benched. Or, indeed, how Danny Graham would have coped with it. Either way we're maybe better off looking at alternatives that can play across the front to maximise our options.
I hardly think that you can describe Jay as a direct striker he often got a slating for not spending enough time in the box. He was a link man who came looking for the ball and brought other players into the game he was a play maker target man and a player with the capability of doing something special out of the blue as well. Hardly a direct striker in fact he could if he applied himself settle into most styles off play.
I think Bothroyd was one of the few to come out of the end of our season with any credit, I felt he was at least trying even if he was off-form and, as you said, it wasn't just him in that team and I can think of a few worse performers who really let us down.
Couple of points i'd like to meke regarding Bothroyd 1. why did he refuse to have a pain killing injection prior to the Blackpool play off game when for a couple of months before he had agreed to have them? resulting in him lasting 10 mins and us losing - not really forgiven him for that 2. What impact did he really have after he had been capped by England?A two week injury turned into six weeks and what did he do when supposedly fit? not a lot in my opinion. I do stress these are personal opinions and if any club can meet his aspirations then good luck to all concerned.
Bothroyd for me over the last few season's has along with one or 2 others been the catalyse to most things good that we have witnessed. I do however appreciate how frustrating it is to see a player of such talent falling over far too often and at times seemingly not trying. That said the good far out weight’s the bad for me and he will be missed and a good addition to which ever squad he joins. As for your comments sayer we will never really know the full extent as to some of the issues you mention. After DJ seemingly lost control of our players again!! At a crucial stage maybe it all comes down to a floor in his management style at the high pressure moments he loses the players mentally.
frustrating is the word regarding Bothroyd.... but of an enigma really one game unplayable, another game apathetic.
Prof you don't half talk some rubbish on times, how the hell do you put Bothroyd in with that list of yours!............ please log in to view this image Little bit more respect for 'PREMIERSHIP JACKS' please!.......... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Bothroyd: "I would never sign for Swansea purely cause of my loyalty to Cardiff," So where is his loyality now? If he thought that highly of the Bluebirds he would have come to some agreement for a new contract, or am I being nieve?
Hmm, sound bytes from Jay methinks. One of the better players over the last 3 years until his debut for England. He seemed to lose his way a bit after that, coupled with his injuries, and never really showed his best at the business end of the season. Yes DJ lost the team towards the end but let's be honest DJ couldn't go onto the pitch and play for the guys. DJ could only do his bit (no he wasn't perfect) but the players need to do their bit as well. Would I take Bothroyd back? Hell yes!
Certainly is and I wish footballers would not do this. It makes them look stupid and uneducated (ok, maybe some are). To say I have a loyalty to ABC FC and then turn their back on a new contract is just total bollocks. Perhaps JB thinks everyone else is stupid but in reality he makes himself look a fool. I know many Bluebirds fans would like him to stay/come back but to be honest guys, he only wants the money and does not want to wear the shirt with pride. You are probably better off without him.
