The comment you made was that it was ridiculous to say the British fought at Agincourt. You did not say the British army so when an organisation was founded known as the British Army is irrelevent. EDIT: When was the organisation known as the "English Army" founded by the way? (Just since that's the one you're saying did fight at Agincourt)
Irrelevent to the discussion. The comment you made was that it was ridiculous to say the British fought at Agincourt. You did not say the British army so when an organisation was founded known as the British Army is irrelevent. When was the organisation known as the "English Army" founded by the way? Since that's the one you're saying did fight at Agincourt.
Don't need to. I didn't say they were fighting for Britain, I said they were a British army because they were from Britain, and as you've acknowledged Britain is a geographical area you can't actually be disputing they were from it.
Here, as you seem to lack any credible sort of intelligence, I will explain to you. I categorised us as the British in the original post as it was the British army which fought at rawkes drift, and the English army at Agincourt with the aid of the Welsh. I purposely didn't say the English as I thought someone would come and point out the Welsh were involved in both battles, and coining us as the British would save from that. Then along you come being all pedantic and point out it was officially the English army at Agincourt, not the British. So in the name of accuracy, I asked if you'd like me to edit my post to satisfy your pedantic know it all ego. Officially, it was the English army with Welsh auxiliaries at Agincourt, and the British army with the aid of 10 or 20 native African auxiliaries at Rawkes drift. Therefore - in all accuracy - the English, the Welsh, the British and native Africans fought on the winning side at Agincourt and Rorke's Drift. So before you go around accusing people of a low level of intelligence, and making yourself look more of a brainless twonk, sit back and have a think about what you're saying before you say it. I really cannot believe I have just had to explain this.
"The battle is notable for the use of the English longbow, which Henry used in very large numbers, with English and Welsh archers forming most of his army". Please give the definition of "Britain" at this time.
The geographical area named Britain (Britannia in Latin) by the Romans. Much like Humberside is a geographical region named by a previous government. That means if me and a Scunny fan go off and have a scrap with someone down south it would be correct to refer to us as Humbersiders, even though I'm a Yorkshireman and they'd be from Lincolnshire. ...I might have just fixed it for you
And we're back on subject...just in time for me to go out and get my foam hands ahead of the Palace game.
Jesus Christ! sometimes I wish we had never got promoted last season! All this talk of global merchandising and fans complaining about not getting tickets for high profile games. Demanding big signings in the Jan window to keep us up otherwise we would sink down into oblivion again and not be on match of the day. Sure its great to be in the prem but its not the be all and end of all football. This league can suck the life out of a club if you start wanting to push for a euro spot and worrying about if people in friggin Thailand are buying Hull City shirts! I for one will not be shedding too many tears if we do struggle second half of the season and we end up going back down so long as we make a good fist of it and try our best. I have been following City for a good few number of years now and its the match day experience that I enjoy not all the hoopla that goes along with having Lord Rooney play at the KC ffs. Get a grip of yourselves I expect better from you lot your from Hull for crying out loud stop fighting amongst yourselves over stupid ****. John Firth City till I die
This is why I end up reading more than I contribute. Most threads seem to wander off the subject. I want to put something about the name change. Could anyone point me to which of the 50 threads I should use!
