Surely the only people who can rename the stadium is the owners, otherwise what is to stop Hull FC from negotiating a sponsorship deal for renaming it.
The SMC, owned by the Allams surely can't without permission of the owners.

Could the HCC rename it Geraghty's Grotto if they chose?

The SMC are the company tasked with raising revenue from the stadium, that includes it's naming rights, the council are not involved.

I would LOVE it if they found a way to sever the existing deal and call it te Allam Arena, purely for the week of platinum entertainment reading the RL boards. Just imagine it <laugh>

I agree it's a weird deal and I can't see what they get from it. Everyone in the area has heard of KC and if they're going to advertise it should be to change people's negative attitudes rather than just to raise awareness in my opinion. Almost everyone in Hull knows you can't get BT, Sky, Virgin etc in Hull but hardly anyone realises that it's simply because those companies refuse to provide a service here rather than because anyone stops them. Equally everyone thinks it's somehow a lesser quality of internet then is available in the rest of the country which is completely untrue.

Just for reference, you can get KC in the rest of East Yorkshire and they have a sister company who provide national broadband using BT lines in the same way as Sky, Virgin, etc. do.

If it's such a **** deal, would it be worth someone buying it out and sponsoring, or doesn't it work like that? (Same with the kit sponsor)

They probably want to do something about the ****ty routers they give out. As I travel all over the place I've got my tablet and my laptop with me most places. Everytime I'm at someone's house in Hull the wifi is constantly dropping and then picking itself up. I don't have this problem elsewhere, whether it's my network at home, my mum's (a different provider), any of the hotel chains we stop at with work, my university campus, public networks in pubs etc, even on the bloody train (where granted the connection is cack) I at least have a constant connection to the wifi.

It depends. The club could buy the naming rights from KC (lets say £5M for illustration), and then sell them on to someone else for a greater sum of money (say £10M). But at that point you've got to ask why the new sponsor is talking to us, they could just split the difference with KC and buy all the rights that KC have for less than they'd have to pay us.

But it was agreed when we were in the Championship and they took the option of an extra year. So the deal wasn't made in the Prem.

Oh well, maybe we could sub-sponsor the stadium in bits. I might do the tannoy in E3. I think the one they've got at the minute's plugged in to Paragon.

It also included an increased amount if we got promoted, and I'd be amazed if there's a club in the PL with a less rewarding shirt sponsorship agreement in place. IIRC the deal was something like it's worth £1M if we got promoted in the first year and they took up their option, so if we said £200k in Championship and £400k in PL. We can't be far off that being a neutral deal due to the amount of shirt (and other merchandise) sales it's cost us. You see next to no shirts these days, compared to last time we were in the PL and nearly everybody seemed to have at least one of the shirts. There's other factors, like adidas providing us with utter **** in terms of design and quality, but the sponsor has to be the main one as previously crap quality kits have sold pretty well.

There's a few different types of routers which are very common in Hull by different manufacturers. Some are better quality than others but all of them can easily support a strong wireless signal without any drops unless there is something in the nearby environment which is interfering with it. No router, unless it's faulty, will have this problem without some external interference such as baby monitors, and other wireless devices. You just need to change the wireless channel to fix that.

Also KC provide service to areas such as Hornsea. As previously mentioned by PLT we also own a company based is essex that provides internet down south. Much lile BT own Plusnet or talktalk own aol and tiscalli. Most people are ignorant in the sense that they don't understand that other isp's just won't come into the area simply because it's not worth while them doing so, they wouldn't make much of a profit. Plus KC are based locally rather than "Harry" from thailand and a free tech support line as opposed to 0870 numbers. Most customers I speak too are silly in the sense they'll just choose the cheaper sounding tariff because the base cost of the package is cheaper instead of choosing the package that suits there needs and would work out cheaper for them, they then call me and complain that their bills are high. Basically, without fully understanding the industry people don't really understand how good they actually havr it here

Whilst I agree with your overall sentiment you have to be careful posting stuff like that in public.

    Works both ways though.

KC rang me, having looked at my usage and the tariff I'm on, but I still had to explain to him why it would cost me to move to the one he was recommending and I'd have no advantage.
