Must be very strange for the players left behind and the coaches?. I know they bring the youngsters into training, but must be hard to make it meaningful. Head tennis anyone?
Jordan 0-1 Uruguay. Ramirez on the bench unsurprisingly. edit: Ok they won 0-5. edit2: Oh yeah Ramirez, he played 20 mins.
Have a Iceland related article which shows what an achievement it is that they've got this far! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24931524
Nice of Uruguay to give him game time, but rather they didn't drag him across the world. The country of origin has to be considered when you buy a player...imagine how annoyed we would be if he was central to our success and he kept arriving back too late for the next game.
Being local, I am off to Stadium MK tonight to see Prowsy and Luke play for the U21's tonight. Will report back on how they do…dead excited!!!!!
Don't know if it's been mentioned, but former saint Anders Svensson is now the most capped male Swedish player of all time. Should be involved in an interesting pair of games against Portugal.
I've mentioned it a couple of times in passing probably on Beefy's, he's also now the joint 16th most capped player in history. One of my favourite players in my early Saints-supporting years.
ENGLAND U21: Butland; Jenkinson, Stones, Keane, Shaw; Ward-Prowse, Chalobah; Sterling, Ravel, Zaha; Berahino.
Does anyone else find it funny that Ramirez can get on Uruguay's bench, one of the best teams in the world, and can't get on ours, and even if he does he probably won't be brought on! Saints > Uruguay.
No, it will be his third appearance (and start) for Gareth Southgate's under-21 side. There's a whole load of potential links here, probably better off waiting until near kick off and then choosing one: http://www.wiziwig.tv/broadcast.php?matchid=230204&part=sports
Really looking forward to going to Landsdowne Rd tomorrow night for Latvia match...Hoping it's the start of a more positive era after the lows of the last 2 years. The new appointment (like it or loathe it) has at least captured the public's imagination again and we should see a decent crowd.....Also a bonus is that I'll get to see Marian Pahars in the flesh for the first time ever! Was a hero of mine growing up!
