CHRIS WOODS says Rangers will always hold a special place in his heart for the run of success he had with the club 25 years ago. please log in to view this image The former Light Blues keeper has been at Murray Park for the first time this week as the USA national team has trained there ahead of Fridayâs clash with Scotland. Woods was a stalwart for Gers in the late 1980s as he kept goal for them during the Souness Revolution at Ibrox. He was hugely successful too, helping the club to win four titles during his stay between 1986 and 1991 as well as three League Cups. Woods, pictured above with manager Ally McCoist, is the Americansâ goalkeeping coach and has the same role at Manchester United on a full-time basis. The 54-year-old was thrilled to be back in town and said: âI love coming back up to Glasgow when I can because the memories Iâve got here are great. âRangers is the one football club I played at where I won the majority of my medals and trophies. âIâve got a real soft spot in my heart for Rangers. Before I came, they told me what a massive club it was but it wasnât until I actually arrived I realised just how big it was. âWe had a team that Graeme put together which gelled and we won the league in my first season by six points. âThey were really happy days and the club was so friendly. Thatâs the good thing about coming back up: it hasnât changed in that respect. âItâs great to see some old faces again. The first thing I did when we got here was go to see Coisty and I had a chat with Jimmy Bell after training too.â Due to the high-octane life in the English Premiership, Woods concedes he isnât as up-to-date with recent events at Rangers as heâd liked to be. But he knows enough about them to feel theyâre heading in the right direction under McCoist following the darkest period in their history. Woods added: âI donât know the ins and outs of it but itâs just so sad to see where Rangers once were and where they are now in the league. âTheyâve got to look forward though and thatâs what theyâre doing. Iâm sure theyâre going to bounce back. âScottish football needs Rangers in the top league and I donât think itâll be long before weâre seeing an Old Firm derby again. âAll you can do is go out and win your games. Itâs a bit similar for Rangers now to when I played for them. âWe would play other teams and for every one of them it was their cup final. They wanted to beat us and thatâs what the lads face now. âThatâs difficult and theyâll have to concentrate and knuckle down. They need to do a job and so far theyâre doing that.â
You think ? I'd say an alcoholic brain surgeon who's wife is having an affair with her boss and his son is drug addled college drop out in a US soap drama series . Probably St Elsewhere
Naw Ally looks like a sidekick . A comical character who pops in occasionally so the star of the show can harangue him . Usually a hopeless romantic single guy who can't find love and always wears shorts or garish hawaiian shirts or both .
Woods doesn't know much about how The Rangers are doing now. Some Rangers man, surely if he ever had any love for the club, who he won four titles with the help of the referees , he would have been following their demise and would be fully aware of the cheating deceitful SFA and how they kept senior football at Ibrox .
It's like literary jenga . He picks out a word and the rest just tumble on to the page in no discernible order .
Aldo, you started off a thread and pleaded to be allowed to sort me out. Unfortunately Aldo you were too naive and green behind the years and had to sulk away into the corner like a beaten old hag. Nobody but an idiot starts something that they cannot finish . Aldo you are that idiot.
Ano , it's a bitch being green behind the years . I should have flown the roast ages ago . Do you have much experience of beating old hags Drooper ? I dare say Mrs Hooper has taken the brunt of your frustrations over the years . Black and blue behind the ears I have no doubt .
A well established keeper. All he needed was a word with the ref in the tunnel before the game Woods "I don't feel like conceding a goal today, make sure that doesn't happen" Ref [giving secret handshake] "You've nothing to worry about Chris you're playing Celtic"
Those were the days Medro , those were the days before Rangers 1872 were found out to be the cheating scum, all football clubs in Scotland and beyond know. Unfortunately for fools like yourself they will never be days like them again . No more games involving Rangers and Celtic .
You know Hoopy when we come back up you're going to have to be like these nutters in Larkhall who never acknowledged Maurice Johnstone played for Rangers. They even had their own little league table that discounted his goals. In fact according to them Aberdeen won the league during one of the nine a row seasons. That will be kind of convenient for you SH as once we're back you lot will no doubt resume your position as bottle merchant FC.
That's a bit harsh Eric. Neil has won you some titles albeit without much competition, but they still count. Surely that would buy him another season? please log in to view this image
Celtic had the same competition last year and this year as they have had every other year . The number of clubs in the SPL is the same for quite sometime . The only difference Is that no team has cheated to almost the same extent as match fixing .
