For me, the definition of a wind-up merchant is someone who says something just to get a reaction and don't really believe what they are saying
The fact that he contradicts himself within 10 minutes on separate threads confirms that he is indeed by his own understanding of the expression a WUM, he's also a ****. But h's fine with this. "I'm fine with being called a c*** or a wind-up merchant"
"I know... if we keep calling him a WUM, we can report him to PLT and get his sorry arse banned (snigger snigger)" etc etc
The fact that less than 50% of the supporter base has declared their allegiance one way or another means that both the pro and anti change camps are currently minorities.
You need to be careful with those staggering claims otherwise Macca will be along shortly to call you a ******. Oh wait, you're a mod... no he wont be doing that... he'll be puckering up.
I probably won't be calling Ricardo a ****** because he adds something useful to this board. The polar opposite of you. You are WUM and a troll, you even admitted it yourself. So do yourself a favour, and shut the **** up. I recommend going to bed soon, don't you have school tomorrow?
Dunno really, Lloyd is a big enough ****wit to be both ****wit 1 AND ****wit 2, in terms of ****wits he is Champions League standard
Is this an open forum for debate or closed to CTWD. Any thread where someone mentions anything against CTWD they're shot down as 'WUMs' or 'Don't know the facts' etc. There's a lot of information to take in for the majority of fans, but it seems that we're being forced to listen to a few. If you want to get your point across you cannot go around making figures up like '95% are against it'. CTWD have stated that there is no financial benefit to having a name change, based on a theory, but it hasn't been proven as no club has tried to take such radical steps in the past. I'm not saying this is right or wrong for either side but we need facts to come reasonable decision. I'm not happy at the idea of the name change but we have to look forward with the FFP coming in something has to be done. Fifty per cent of clubs are losing money and this is an increasing trend. We needed to stop this downward spiral. They have spent more than they have earned in the past and haven't paid their debts. We don't want to kill or hurt the clubs; on the contrary, we want to help them in the market. The teams who play in our tournaments have unanimously agreed to our principles…living within your means is the basis of accounting but it hasn't been the basis of football for years now. Accurate facts from both sides need to be produced for the layman to make a decision by themselves, I liked the idea of the thread 'Save the name - alternative ideas' but again a lot of people changed this thread to an anti Allam thread, there were some really good ideas and some not so, I think someone actually posted that we would lose merchandising sales so we would be shooting ourselves in the foot. This is potentially correct for the homegrown market but what we lose here could be massive abroard, again nothing can be proved either way.
Simply ask yourself the simplest of all questions to test this principle: Of the very few clubs who have maximised their commercial interests in foreign lands, is that because of their brevity of name, or is it because of their history, competitive accomplishments and sheer strength of proven professional character. I know this has been done to death, but it is the fundamental flaw in his argument. That and the fact he doesn't appear to know what the club's name is.
It's the clubs that have splashed the cash to bring in world class footballers, it's the clubs that have taken these players on pre-seasons tours, these clubs have only recently had a big foreign following from the conception of the Premier League and they've utilised the PL money and investors correctly in trying to gain a world wide target. We know the the Man U and Chelseas of this world have spent big to do this, we know the debt they're in, but when the FFP comes in the global market sales will be taken into account.
im not interested in following a Man utd or Chelsea type of club , i really arnt arsed if we dont challenge for a european spot - though it would of course be nice It shouldnt be at the cost to the club or its credibility . I'd be happy for the club to be keeping its head above - whatever level that is . It seems people are moving the goalposts as to why the extra income is needed .
It's accurate facts that CTWD are campaigning for, it was accurate facts that AA offered us at the meeting, but it seems he's no longer interested in facts. Even the facts that he's given, he dismisses as not being facts.
What's happened to the minutes of the meeting - will they still be published minus the redacted personal stuff ?
That's nothing to do with it. That's a proven road to global success, which mutiple clubs have succeeded doing. No club, specially a smaller unfashionable club like ours which doesnt have the trophy cabinet behind it, has attempted to penetrate the global market by changing the name to a shorter and snappier version. The two situations are entirely incomparable, so for you to present other clubs strategies as a flaw in ours in clutching at straws. How many battles in history have been won by strength in numbers? So lets apply that logic to Rawkea Drift, or Agincourt. As theory proves, the British got ****ed over both times didn't they? Edit: I apologise in advance for my phone changing words left right and centre. You can still easily figure out what should be what.
