As long as the main word in the name was SUNDERLAND and has been said we keep the red and white. They can call it what the hell they like. Everyone would still just say Sunderland. I would also change the stadium name I ****ing hate the Stadium of Light. It's ****ing Benficas ground ffs. As for Hull. There's your answer right there in that last sentence. "HULL" I have never ever called them anything else but Hull. I have never heard anyone else call them anything other than Hull. So what difference does it make what is stuck on the end?
As the song goes, "we're going to win **** all again, we're going to win **** all, we'll still follow United". It's our club that mean most to us, trophies would be a wonderful bonus. As long as our club stays the same, it's all we need.
What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.
The same as in being owned 'lock, stock and two smoking phone boxes' by a Cockney? The same as in the name of the ground being changed? The same as in Ashley appointing a Cockney with another Cockney waiting in the wings? Yeah, nothing's changed from when the Geordie, John Hall, declared the Geordie Nation would dominate football
There was a fire at the Sports Direct arena last night, Ashley called the fire chief and screamed down the phone. "Save the cups!" The fire chief responded with... "I'm sorry Mr Ashley the canteen went up first."
In Newcastle's case they only own the building ......... the land the club inhabits belongs to the taxpayers, not the club. You're tenants on council owned land, that's all.
Interesting argument mate. Though, it's not down to what the opposition fans call us, it's what the locals identify their team by, and it's normal in Hull to call Hull City, City. It's why there's an uproar. Plus, the fact it's a whim and he's not thought it through. All the other stuff in his interviews is just heaping more embarrassment on him and his little cause.
i think your a very good poster mate, but please make this your avatar please log in to view this image may be the drink but that is a corker
That's another thing about having such a ****e name as Hull Tigers, you know the club will bring out more Tiger related ****e- tiger onesies, tiger head hats. I don't mind kids wearing them, but I've seen grown men with them on. And sometimes even face paint like Young Kenny off Phoenix Nights. It's bad enough having cash converters on the shirt.
The same as in we are Newcastle United and we play at SJP. It was guttering when the stadium name changed, part of the club felt like it was gone with it. SO glad to have SJP back Old but...no wait, not even gold And?
I don't think many take much notice of this sort of stuff, TBH. For example, the only people who call Newcastle's ground the "Sports Direct Arena" are the media twats and us Mackems, and we're only doing it to annoy the mags. I get more pissed off at the ever-changing shirts, frankly. Cardiff have had their blue shirts turned red. Southampton have gone from red and white stripes to red. The mags had the barcode monstrosity (funny, but appalling at the same time) and we had those horrible pinstripes in the mid-80s. Yes, I know it's to raise money from selling the latest £5 variation for forty quid, but I'm not playing that game, thank you very much. All this corporate **** can bog right off and they could call our club anything they like and it would still be "Sunderland" to me.
Guttering is what catches the rain on the roof of the Wongadome ............. any more spelling mistakes like that and there'll be a boycoutt of the board and a mock funeral
