The lad wants a fish tank for Xmas but can't be arsed with the cleaning etc and explaining if they died, can you by fake ones? Same principal but no clart on with changing water etc
Joe, gan down to pets at home and they will sort you with a fresh water tropical tank. They come fully fitted with heaters, thermostats and filters and are a doddle to set up. Stick some guppies in, a few barbs and if you are really flush a silver shark. Keep off the Cichlid fish as they are prone to eating the other fish during the night. Go for a 2' tank for starters in case the lad gets bored but one you set it up the only thing you need to do is top the water up once a month. A 2' tank complete should cost about £50 + fish but you will need a couple of free sockets available but I tend to use power surge 4 way adapters..
It's not good mate here are the prices and don't get the kit http://www.petsathome.com/webapp/wc...97955&viewTaskName=CategoryDisplayMercadoView Managed to find this but wanted something a it bigger http://www.red5.co.uk/fish-bowl.aspx
That's the posh stuff Joe, the type of thing that Risdale had around Elland Road when they went tits up. Go down and tell them you want a 2' starter tank complete and take it from there. Don't go saltwater mind or you are better off having another couple of kids, it would be cheaper..
there was German tv station showing a 24/7 HiDef stream of an aquarium used to watch it when I couldn't sleep
I have a 125 litre tank and its piss easy to keep clean and I probably spend about 30-45 mins a weeks cleaning it. There really is not much effort in cleaning the tank no matter what the size. I would advise on a few things though; firstly always buy from a reputable local and knowledgeable local aquatic store. I have both pets at home and a more knowledgeable local aquatic shop and they only deal with fish. The customer service and advice that my local aquatic shop provide is far greater that the local Pets at home (I know more than them) but I am sure this changes location to location. Secondly follow the guidelines about starting a fish tank up, its not as simple as filling the tank with water and putting fish in it. A decent forum to read (I dont subscribe) but I get so much information from can be found here...../www.tropicalfishforums.co.uk/. My ten year old daughter absolutely loves the tank and the fish that we have (as my wife and i do) and she helps with the maintenance of the tank and loves learning about the fish that we hold. She now knows quite a bit about it now so not only is it a learning curve for the children but its something that she has high regard for and wants it to flourish. We obviously have gone through the ritual of flushing dead fish down the toilet but if the tank is maintained well and looked after some fish can last a long time. Apologies for the ramble but I cannot advocate the benefits of having a tank and the enjoyment it brings to the family. Good luck with your purchase (if you decide to go through with it), you will not regret it.
