    United boss Pardew will now focus on other targets – including Charles N’Zogbia.

    N’Zogbia, who played for France in their 1-0 win in Poland last night, is keen to return to Tyneside and a source close to the player said today: “Charles left Newcastle a boy and would return a man.

    “He knows now better than ever just what a huge club Newcastle is. And he would love to be back.”

    Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has insisted Newcastle must pay a higher transfer fee than a Champions League club as they are a rival side in the race for survival in the eyes of the Latics chief.

    Nzogbia used to be my fave player at the toon, I remember him puffing out his cheeks when he used to accelerate. Haha. He's a class act, scoring directly from the corner at SJP and skinning the mackems in the 4-1 thrashing.

    Also has a good relationship with Carver I hear.

    Lets hope so? Suggested in chronicle last night that Sunderland are confident of getting Zoggie and we've only put bids in for Cabaye and Taylor.
