I'm largely staying out of this but I do have a fantastic average of exactly 1.00 posts per day to maintain.

Ponders - I respect your decision to stay or go either way but please do keep in touch :emoticon-0150-hands

Tewks/Super - I don't want to be drawn on my opininon but I will say that there's a reason why everyone enjoys this place so and you're both a huge part of it

Ponders mate, for someone who wanted their account scrubbed at lunchtime you're still doing a lot of posting. Just saying. Understand the point you are making but don't martyr yourself. I'd miss you on here and I still have the scars from that hotel room wherever it was a couple if seasons ago. Happy days. :). But the mods are correct on this one and it wasn't for the lack of trying.

Ponders is bang on here. There is obviously something that makes Jono act differently than the rest of us. Should this be a reason to put him off the forum? Only someone with below average thought would say so.

The Leeds fan said put him on ignore. What a fecking great idea, exercise that function and you won't have to read Jono 'in full flow'.

People attacking Ponders as right wing whilst they champion Jonos banning from a forum due to his human make up.

    Laughable.

You are always welcome on General Chat Jono mate <ok>

    @ Super & Tewkes

Here is a possible compromise. Reams on Into the Valley let Ackers back on yesterday, rightly in my view. No one Charlton fan is more important than another, and nobody has the right to gag anyone else unless they are being blatantly offensive, which JA never is.

ITV have set up an Acworth thread, on which JA can post his other stuff while not clogging up the Charlton threads. He can post on the Charlton threads as long as he stays on topic. The prating ninnys, of which Charlton sadly have too many, who claim not to like Ackers posts, can therefore divert their delicate eyes away from his musings about UFOs and JFK etc.

Why not try it on here ?

Read the earlier post, this idea was trialled on here with JA and he had his own thread, however, he could not resist posting/spamming the other threads. SuperC, Tewkes and prior to that AHLL have cut a significant amount of rope to JA over the time this forum has been running. He could not work within even that very loose framework and spammed each and every thread to the extent that a lot of people lost interest and left. I for one stopped contributing at that point in time since every thread lost coherence and trying to post something was like walking down Camden high street at 5.00 in the morning trying to avoid pavement pizzas that would appear. This may seem acceptable to some and JA has not been banned from Not606 merely from the Charlton pages. If you enjoy a daily dose of spam you can still find him out there. Let's see how long he can maintain behaviour on ITV....

I read the others posts. You are missing the point. Its not spamming. It is the way he naturally posts. He can't help it. Would you ban someone who is deaf or blind from posting?

No you are missing the point. The forum is a little like a pub in the old days. A group of people sitting round discussing something which is dear to their heart. Then a person (doesn't matter whether they are blind, deaf or incontinent) comes in and joins the conversation. That person then randomly changes the subject and shouts a lot often drivelling on about something inane. You try to ignore them but they continue to come in and try to take over your conversation. Do you:
    a) abandon the pub and don't go back
    b) ask the landlord to consider whether there is another bar that the person is not banned from
    c) ask the landlord to ban them completely from the pub
    d) tolerate them because you are a social worker at heart and don't mind .

The mods on here are the landlords and agreed that they would allow JA in the pub garden and the public bar but he wasn't allowed in the snug where he would disturb clients. They could have asked for an asbo but didn't go that far.
Do not try to paint Super C and Tewkes as uncaring or heartless. They tried their hardest to achieve a reasonable solution.

I'm a regular on GC and have a lot of time for Jonno - life's all about variety and you need characters to liven things up a bit. He's more than welcome to post on there as far as i'm concerned and whilst I don't really agree with banning people I can see why it's a bit difficult for the mods on here as they have to keep everyone happy. It's clear that a great deal of thought went into taking any action - maybe it's "better" on GC because there's a greater volume of threads and it's easier for those with no taste to ignore his musings.

No. The bottom line for me is that Jon Acworth is part of the Charlton supporters family. Just like any other family, our one has a wide range of characters and a wide range of opinions. I am instinctively against prurient know alls (NOT the mods on this site) who take against someone just because he does not conform to what they consider the "norm". You see whiffs of that level of intolerance from the pro Chris Powell brigade at times. Who is to say that JA is "boring" or "off topic" ? If you don't like his posts, don't read them. Give him his own thread, let him post what he wants on it, and lets enjoy the occasional good Charlton related post that we know he can contribute.

Its almost a form of bullying, JA won't stick to the self appointed judge and jury's rules, so lets ban him from having a say.

As things stand, if JA did have genuine info about our new owners, he wouldn't be able to post it on here.

    Crazy.

    Vol/ Ponders

I am fairly certain you would be welcome to set up a separate "Charlton with JA" site on the forum if you approached the supermods. You can then spend the time that SuperC and Tewkes do moderating ( or not as you choose). It would be interesting to see how many of the regular posters diverted to that page.
