I think most on here would prefer Downing, but i'd certainly prefer N'Zogbia. IMO, Downing's reputation has gone through the roof but i don't see it. I think it's based on the game against Ghana where he got man of the match (Gyan was clearly MOTM), and a couple of decent goals he's scored this season in the PL. I love the unpredictability of N'Zogbia, Gyan, Welbeck. I think Downing is a top 10 PL player, nothing more - N'Zogbia possibly top 6 player. If we have to lose Gyan, we shoud be dealing with Chelsea who he was previously linked with. Chelsea are still continously being linked with Strikers. Spurs have nothing to offer us. 20 million and Sturridge, using some of the 20 million to bring in Welbeck. Get N'Zogbia in, too, and lets get on with the new season. Alternatively, keep Gyan, get Welbeck and N'Zogbia.

Yet amazingly still doesn't get much game time at Man City. Cheeky 15 million bid? Effectively swapping Henderson for Johnson - that would be great business (and i'm a big fan or Henderson)! Johnson probs on big wages now, like, and probably wouldn't want to make the step down. Alas, Bruce appears to yet again focus on bringing in solid defensive players when we're ABSOLUTELY MONUMENTALLY DESPERATE for attacking talent.

If we had to lose Gyan, you don't think that would be a good deal for us?

I think we are jumping the gun abit here as I believe we have alot of dealing to do this summer. Understandably everyone’s nervous but let’s see what we end up with pre season tours. One thing I am worried about is if Gyan goes who will follow? Sess maybe then we will have taken a huge step backwards which will take years too built up again. If the worst does happen then Quinn can forget about big attendances and any of this magic carpet ride nonsense.

I think he meant you were being overly ambitious with value for gyan.

Personally I love Gyan but keep getting the feeling that he cares for more about playing for Ghana than for Sunderland. i mean look at the game he played against England. He took England on single handedly and won. How many games can we say he has won or saved for sunderland.
