Not sure how the Norwegian League compares to the English one but at least he's got first team experience at (presumably) a decent standard, plus a couple of games in Europe. It would be nice to see him involved in our squad but I think he'll be loaned out to a Championship club in January to get a better idea if he's anywhere near first team standard.

The fact that it says Josh has decided against a permanent move suggests that we were willing to let him go, which doesn't sound like he's seen as one who could make the breakthrough.

It could have been an agreed fee as part of the initial loan deal which we would have to accept if they offered, leaving it up to the player to decide. No doubt the club would have had scouts watching his progress and changed their minds about wanting to let him go. All guesswork at this stage though.

Long serving Charlie Banya, who hasn't been featuring for the U21s recently because of competition from Mesca and Freddy Plumain, has gone on loan to Woking.

"Woking Football Club is pleased to confirm the signing of Charles Banya on a one-month loan from Premier League side Fulham.

Charles, 20, is a winger who can play down either flank, and has been with Fulham since the age of 12.

He is available for selection in today's Skrill Premier match against Grimsby Town."

Another mixed Saturday for the lads out on loan:

Dan Burn’s Birmingham City stay in the relegation zone, when they suffered their fourth game without a win in a 1-0 home defeat to Charlton. Birmingham struggled for most of the game and really only created the one chance in each half. This comment from Assistant Manager Terry Mc Dermott has an echo closer to home:

"No-one is happy with the position we are in at the moment in the bottom three. I would like to think that it will not last long because we have too many good players in the side.“

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24680868

Brentford on the other hand made it their fourth consecutive win on the trot, with a 1-0 win away to Crawley Town. Marcello Trotta, who was subbed after 80 minutes, had a number of shots but they were all long range efforts and fairly easily dealt with.

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24681011

Oxford United drop to second place after losing 1-0 at home to lowly Bristol Rovers, thanks to a second half penalty. Ryan Wiliams played for 60 minutes in this one.

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24681011

Accrington Stanley made it of the bottom of League Two with a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at home to Wycombe Wanderers. That brought Marcus Bettinelli’s team their fifth consecutive game without defeat.

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24681011

Charlie Banya was straight into action for his new club Woking but the Conference League side found themselves a goal down after only 30 seconds at home to Grimsby. They equalised on the half hour through another player known to Fulham fans, Kevin Betsy, who shot home from the edge of the box.

Charlie nearly got the winner was denied by a fine save from the goalkeeper. It was in fact Grimsby who snatched the winner in extra time to take the game 2-1.

Cauley Woodrow's loan has been extended till the end of the season. Makes absolute sense all round.

"Southend United have extended the loan of Fulham striker Cauley Woodrow until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old has made 10 first-team appearances since joining the Shrimpers in September and has scored twice for the club, both goals coming in a 5-2 Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat by Dagenham & Redbridge.

"Extending this until the end of the season means he can settle here, work hard and improve as a footballer," boss Phil Brown told the club website. "As a young striker it's important to get games and goals. Cauley has got a couple in the cup and I'm sure when he does get that first league goal he'll kick on from there."

Cup Day for most of the lads

Brentford eased through to the FA Cup second round with a crushing derby win over Conference South side Staines. Alan McCormack's early penalty after ex-Bees player Lewis Ferrell handled in the box gave the hosts the lead.

Jake Reeves' close-range finish doubled the home side's lead before Kadeem Harris found the top corner from 30-yards to make it 3-0. Marcello Trotta's close-range header made it four and Clayton Donaldson's backheel completed the rout

Mrcello was subbed after 50 minutes and Brentford ended up winning 5-0.

Oxford United fought back from two goals down to earn a replay against Conference Premier side Gateshead in an enthralling FA Cup first-round tie.

James Marwood gave Gateshead the lead with a fine strike from 35 yards out.
Having earlier cleared off the line, Jamie Chandler then made it 2-0 after rounding keeper Ryan Clarke and side-footing home for the visitors.

Ryan Williams came on after 70 minutes. Then, Deane Smalley pulled one back from close range before Danny Rose levelled late on with a header from two yards.

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24782244

It was heartbreak for Marcus Bettinelli when Tranmere scored a controversial late winner to see off League Two Accrington Stanley and progress to the second round of the FA Cup.

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24782197

Cauley Woodrow was an unused sub a Southend went through 3-0 away to Morecombe.

Nothing doing for Charlie Banya as the Kidderminster v Woking match was postponed.

Elsewhere, in the Championship Dan Burn was an unused sub as Birmingham City won 3-1 away to Huddersfield.

What are your views on Burn? He got outpaced by a 50% fit Zamora at our place this season but was reasonably comfortable on the ball and dominant in the air.

It sounds like he's had the odd mare for Birmingham just recently, but generally the reports on him have been good. He did very well at Yeovil last season, and I think he's mostly doing well with Birmingham. He's one that we've got high hopes for.

A good day for the lads on loan, as they upset the away fans and get amongst the goals.

Marcello Trotta reacted quickest to powerfully head home a clearance following a free-kick a couple of minutes before the interval as Brentford routed Crewe Alex 5-0 away from home.

    Match report: http://www.crewealex.net/news/article/brentford-crewe-2014-1177734.aspx#x6tPHl3gU8e5EuXZ.99

Cauley Woodrow nipped in to score Southend’s first after 15 minutes in their 2-0 win away to Exeter.

    Match report: http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/MATCH-...tory-20090229-detail/story.html#axzz2kpam1GbZ

Ryan Williams was also on the score sheet. He scored Oxford United’s third with an excellent goal in a free flowing movement, as they defeated Mansfield 3-1 away.

    Match report: http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/10814739._/

Marcus Bettinelli had a relatively quiet afternoon (although he did pick up a booking) as Accrington Stanley’s revival continues. They climbed out of the bottom three with a 2-0 win away to Scun thorpe.

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24877642

Charlie Banya the only guy on home ground, played for 67 minutes as Woking came from 2-1 down to beat Hyde 3-2 at Kingfield Stadium.

The goalie situation is again under Jol's radar:

Jol admits he would allow reserve goalkeeper David Stockdale to leave on loan if he had back-up for number one Maarten Stekelenburg.

Jol said: “If I had another very good goalkeeper I would send him (Stockdale) on loan. Neil Etheridge (Fulham’s third choice goalkeeper) hasn’t got the experience yet. He has never played in the Premier League.

“Goalkeepers live by experience. Neil is one of the ‘keepers who should go on loan and get 50 or 75 games under his belt and then be a good goalkeeper because he is talented. Stockdale is different. He’s already played a lot of games in the Premier League and he was fine at the start of the season. But he is ambitious and wants to be in goal and I can understand that.”

Stockdale really needs to go, a club like ourselves can't afford to have a quality number two on the bench week in, week out. For one thing it's not fair to Dave, who could probably walk into a number of first teams in the league.

Yes, my work colleague took the day off to go up there. I spoke to him at about 6:15 and he was not quite his normal cheerful self.

Macello Trotta's 'long range' header for Brentford's opening goal in the 5-0 thrashing of Crew:

Not too bad a day for our lads out on loan.

Dan Burn was back in the Birmingham side, after being dropped, and helped the to a 1-1 draw at home against Blackpool.

”Both teams had chances to win it after the break but Dan Burn cleared Ince's shot off the line “

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24969683

Wolves were nocked off top spot in League 1 as Brentford held them to a 0-0 draw at Molineux. Marcello Trotta played the first 65 minutes.

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24968201

Neil Etheridge went straight into the side and was praised by Crewe Alex’s manager Steve Davis, "the keeper made two or three great saves second half and looks like he might be a good acquisition for us."

However he couldn’t save the struggling side from going down 2-1 at home to Port Vale.

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24968113

Certainly a good day for Ryan Williams with an assist and a goal as Oxford United beat Morecombe 3-0 at home.

” A SUPERB spell in the first half gave Oxford United a very welcome win in front of their own fans to stay top of Sky Bet League Two.

James Constable scored his 101st goal for the club from short range after a quarter of an hour and the rampant hosts followed it up with two more in the following 16 minutes.

Ryan Williams set up Sean Rigg to double the lead before the Australian, on loan from Fulham, scored the third with a cool finish.”

    Match report: http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/10830758._/

Cauley Woodrow came off the bench 10 minutes from the end as Southend made it four successive wins on the trot, beating York 2-1 at home.

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24969704

Accrington Stanley extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-1 victory at home over Torquay United. Marcus Bettinelli was his usual competent self but had no chance with the Torquay goal from a curled shot into the roof of the net.

    Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24969740

Woking had most of the possession but couldn’t get the better away to top of the Conference side Cambridge, who eventually won 2-0. Charlie Banya played the full 90.
