    If true thats pretty harsh

    However...

I personally find it hard to believe that they have picked on this one completely innocent person when I've seen video footage of people they could genuinely have detained if they wanted to make an example of someone

I hate to have to say it , but there seems to be a determine effort by some people
on here to live up to the reputation of Scottish people of meanest . I think whether
anyone wishes to make a donation towards helping to create a fund in support of
pour fellow supporters who fell foul of the Dutch police . No doubt those who are
locked up and those who have to return for trial will need good legal assistance .
Based on what we know various police forces in England , the Strathclyde police
force and the PSNI , their brutality and their willingness to lie to their advantage
is the one thing they have in comment .

That's fine. I suspect your disbelief is based on what your expectations of how a police service should perform.
There are plenty of accounts of how the Feds bashed folk up indiscriminately, there are accounts of apologies being issued to folk who got banjoed for no reason. With that in mind, I find it hard to believe that the officers involved fulfilled their duties in a manner one might expect and in a manner in keeping with their own procedures. If that account is even remotely true, it casts doubt on everything.

I'm not saying I believe that account. I don't know how I could. I am just saying it is another account that shows a different picture. There seems to be the notion that what a police officer thinks is something that can be relied on. Their job is to gather facts and to present them and offer a recommendation. No more than that. If they have done their job properly then they'll already have an answer for the inevitable "what about.... A, b, c?" or "did you consider ....x, y, z?"

Of course they might be guilty. They might be innocent too....both of us saying "I find it hard to believe" doesn't amount to a hill of beans when it comes down to it. It is what you can prove. These guys are entitled to a defence and people are entitled to contribute to make sure they get a good one. Folk are collating information that might mitigate or exonerate these guys and in terms of presenting this to the court isn't going to be something anyone can do effectively. The best evidence can look like ****e in the wrong hands.

I've a cool story bro about a Dutch lawyer from Amsterdam doing lawyers type things in a football context. Buy me a drink at the not606 Christmas bash and I'll tell you all about it.

    Spit it out Trebor.

It's just I'm getting the feeling that you are trying to suggest that I am in some way naive for espousing the same position as adopted by most developed societies the world over, including the EU.... Of which the Netherlands is a part and that somehow you know better.

Of course that would be ludicrous in the extreme, but that is how it comes across Trebor... Just so you are aware.

Seems like these guys have already been judged. FFS!

Is there not the slightest possibility that some innocent people got caught up in that? Piss poor from some on here.

I and other have already said some of they may be wholly innocent BAD, and to be honest I suspect some of them may be, I just won't be giving my money to them, that seems to be the general consensus.

That as may be, a lot of Celtic supporters will feel more of an affinity with fellow Celtic supporters arrested whilst supporting Celtic than they would for some abstract notion of a disaster on the other side of the world.

I don't know if they are guilty or are innocent...who can say.

Imagine you gave your hard earned money to their fund...and they are proven, beyond doubt, that they were guilty.

and fair play to them paying lawyers fees for people they don't know or don't know if they are guilty or not. Backing people because they support the same team as you, no matter what...
