He did say that he was willing to talk to anyone with ideas of how to bring in extra revenue. All we get from CTWD is how to block revenue. Maybe he just now sees the need to hurry through the process.

I understand we pay for transfers in cash. We have spent over £12 million this season on transfers. Then there is the cost of increased wages. We are heading for a £11 million shortfall this year. This will include the bonus payments paid for getting promotion. If we stay up we may well be in a better position financially, but to get into Europe we need to strengthen the squad.

I agree totally. Except for the views of the football authorities and the laws of the land he is able to do what he wants. I don't think his name change idea will do anything other than dilute the image of the football club.

I think you are right. I think he took over the guarantees as a short term measure until he could raise the money.

Selling all the seats currently available for home games would be a start. What's the point in putting in more seats if they are going to remain unused?

CTWD did the exact opposite, we discussed working with him on other options(including mediating with the council), to avoid this name change nonsense, but he would have it.

No, I agree with you. I wouldn't call anybody a rude name - unless "liar" is a rude name and it's relevant.

I didn't know John Cleese had that kind of accent.

Maybe it's your way to beat the censors, though.

It's not blocking revenue when there is no proof that there will be any increase, and it could indeed have a negative impact.

If you look at the balance sheet up to July 2012, the club is only showing assets at £4m ie not including resale value of players.

If the policy is to pay cash and write it off in the first season then no wonder we're showing big losses.

A newly promoted club has to spend big to stay up - compare Hull City and Crystal Palace (NB they haven't paid a lot for their potential record signing yet). Once a club achieve a reasonable position in the league then they don't have to throw money at good players to quite the same extent.

    Interviewer:

'So the textbooks say go for a shorter name, but what about this global impact that your trying to get for Hull City, how are you going to test the market overseas?'

    Allam:

'No, I'm not here to discuss market research'

    Roughly translated - I don't have a ****ing clue.

I'm amazed that he is serious about city in Europe though tbh.

I'm not saying it will never happen but is that not emotional blackmailing? I mean we are still far away from that, meaning we need even better players. So we can't sustain a club whose target is survival at the minute how can he sustain one seeking europe?

I think at the moment we can only hope that he knows some rich fella willing to invest only in a club named Hull tigers.

But anyways overall I think it pretty much panned out the way I expected. Which is why I wasn't heavily against the name change. Because it's his business and he calls THOSE shots. The shots we can call is to decide whether to give the club any of our money. Which most of us would not stop doing. He has by the balls really. Even if we find a way to show him that we mean business and that he needs us just as much as we need him, it wouldn't work cause we'd be harming him and our club.

At this point in time, I feel we should step back a bit, let's see what if his brilliant plan works and if it doesn't then really get on his back.
I mean if he left would we really not be able to find other investors?

The obvious way to bring in extra revenue is to perform well on the pitch.

I don't think we do pay for transfer in cash - usually they are staged but it's a matter of negotiation.

Whatever the cashflow - transfer fees are amortised over the period of the contract as are some bonuses.

If you were looking to invest, does Mr Allam come across as someone you'd want to go into business or be associated with?

It's the only way to bring a lot of revenue.
