Fez, I didn't have to wait long to find yet another example of what I find to be neither helpful or constructive but potentially very damaging comments, not that you surely need me to highlight such startlingly outragous comments as these. These are obviously very personal and disparaging comments that, imo, should not be aired on a public forum, and these are from a moderator, maybe he will find it within himself to ban me for not being personal and disparaging enough. In what possible way do you think he/she thinks the above comments can be seen to be of any help in this current situation? ****? Clueless ****er? You have such a nice turn of phrase PLT...NOT! I'd seriously love to see you in a face to face meeting with AA and hear you make those accusations to his face. Whatever you may think of him PLT he hasn't done too bad a job so far and certainly doesn't deserves your deplorable and, quite frankly, despicable comments!
As a key figure of the CTWD group, do you condone the insulting attacks on The Doctor and his character? Are they likely to help or complicate the situation and your cause?
I think your insistence on calling him doctor is an insulting attack on anyone who ever studied to be one.
Here's a transcript of interview for those who can't hear the interview: http://www.hullcityonline.com/news/2013/11/12/allam-no-one-is-allowed-to-question-how-i-do-business
I don't think the percentage of 'don't cares' is all that high, but I accept that the 'don't like but won't resist camp' is sizeable.
Difficult questions, but I'll give you an answer. I don't think CTWD have attacked Assem Allam. Yes I've seen your post and disagree with it. Given the emotions involved I think we have tried to be reasonable. He gave the meeting undertakings which he has gone back on. I think the position is complicated because of the finances of Hull City AFC and whether you think millions of pounds are stood outside the KC waiting for our name to change before entering. Personally I don't think changing the name will have much positive affect on our finances. It may even have a negative effect. The announcement has raised the temperature and the mood is likely to get a lot worse before it gets better. I think its a shame and quite sad it has come to this. Our position is broadly the same as it was in August, our only hope is persuade the FA and the Premier League to refuse the application. Assem Allam by, in effect, ignoring their rules, may have made that slightly easier. In Hull we have fans that want success, an owner that wants success and a council that wants success. Yet we can't get all three round the table to give us a plan to guarantee that success. Maybe not the answer you wanted, but that's how I feel.
Obadiah - fair enough. I didn't feel that the CTWD statement was a direct insult to Assem, but I did feel it was hinting at it and could help aggravate tension among the more easily influenced opposing the name change, as we've seen thoughts toward the owner change for the worse on here over the past 2 days. I think CTWD has an opportunity to confirm co-operation with Assem and prove you only hold the best intentions for the club, as well as help calm emotions by releasing a statement of sort stating your stance on Allams ownership of the club and whether or not the group shares, supports or condones the views of those who oppose the Allams ownership of the club. An Anti-Allam brigade is starting to crawl out the woodwork and its easy to associate that viewpoint with your campaign group. If the viewpoint is not mutual any association should be cut off and condemned at the roots.
Chris Dawkes ‏@chrisdawkesITV A sports finance expert has told me he doesn't think shortening name to #hulltigers will increase global appeal. Will lose identity #hcafc--
Don't worry, Bob - you only have to listen to/read the Radio Humberside interview with AA, to realise that he is his own worst enemy in this saga...... Ego, bullying, contempt - it's all in there.
He needs to get someone to review what he's going to say in interviews. "Nobody interferes with my business" is pathetic and just getting more fans' backs up.
Dr Allam: "Look, from 1904, Hull and City and Tigers always there, so there's no addition to the name. No change of name." Dr Allam:"The name as registered with the FA and the Companies House always has been Hull City AFC (Tigers) Ltd." Dr Allam: "Tigers has always been part of the name!" The first time 'Tigers' appeared in our registered company name, was actually 2001.
If it wasnt my club I'd find it hilarious. It's almost as if he's deliberately trying to break every single rule of PR.
Whether or not that is the case it still doesn't justify people referring to him on here as a '****' or '****er'. People who make these remarks may or may not be members of the CTWD group, but one thing is for certain, they will be understood to be, and it will certainly not, like it or not, help the CTWD cause to be associated with people that use such terms towards AA on a public forum. I've yet to read a post from AA that says in no uncertain terms that he thinks PLT is a ****ish ****er, he may well think it, and he may well be correct, but he would have more sense than to confirm it in the public domain.
I have yet to find anyone who agrees with Mr. Allam that changing the name will bring in extra revenue, even those who are happy to go along with it or aren't bothered. I have thought all along that it could cost us money as we will lose the identity we already have. We won't even be able to keep the identity on a local level as the name that we have spent years and decades following will be diluted. Just as many of us opposing the name change will reluctantly accept it if extra revenue is obtained because of it, will those in the "for" camp campaign against it if it is shown to cost us revenue?
Every time he's interviewed he says something controversial. He speaks English but does he understand it ? I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt here because I still can't believe that interview this morning.
I feel sorry for Ash Lord, who got a lot of stick on the internet last night. Unfortunate position for him- he's only doing his job.
Hull City My Heritage Hull City AFC’s Chairman, Assem Allam claims that he bought the club for the fans, yet he refuses to countenance that the fans have any rights or say in the naming of the team and in an interview on Radio Humberside this morning appeared to deliberately muddy the water and set out to alienate them. Over the years I, like many, have spent thousands and thousands of pounds following City, he has no right to dismiss this fact so cavalierly. Until 11 November I was prepared to to give him the benefit of the doubt, he undoubtedly saved our club, and for that I am grateful. However, yesterday’s statement showed the fans to be used as a pawn in his games with the Council. He showed how petty he can be in May by refusing an open top bus tour through the City. Dr Allam claims to be grateful to the people of Hull for welcoming him in and giving him a chance to build his life and career. This is the City of Hull we are talking about.I am proud to come from the City of Kingston upon Hull. City status is something that is granted and not dismissed. I think City also is a unifying term that potentially brings all the people of Hull and its surrounding villages together. Unfortunately in Dr Allam’s world he associates it only with the council hence is offensive comments about it being lousy Dr Allam also would I am sure say he is a family man, yet his ideas for renaming Hull City AFC are divisive amongst fans and within families. My son who travels up with me from South London for every home game will not go next season if the name is changed to Hull Tigers and as he believes that Dr Allam does not care about the fan views he has not got the enthusiasm this season. Until yesterday I have been more pragmatic being born in Hull and raised in Hessle, City are in my DNA. However, I would become collateral damage as would I really want to travel up to every game without meeting my son in London and getting the train up together? We have had a number of discussions about it. This issue is discussed on other fans forums. The City council don’t come out of this well, but in his interview this morning I can understand just what a difficult man Dr Allam is to deal with. His responses to questions about the research where disrespectful, full of obfuscation and completely and unashamedly arrogant. It is hard when you are a life long fan of a club and they are in the top flight for only the third year in their history to see someone prepared to cause such angst and unrest amongst the people he ‘bought’ the club for. He has a right to want some return on his investment or at least to minimise his losses. It is a real mess and one of his own making. I have been watching them for 45 years and find it all rather heartbreaking. http://unpickingtheseam.tumblr.com/post/66769542084/hull-city-my-heritage
