;) He always looks to me like a long-lost member of the Addams Family. As AG says though, he does look like a bouncer in those photos.

Autosport reporting it as fact as well as the BBC now.

Harsh on Perez, but i guess McLaren really think Magnussen is the real deal, so that will be exciting to watch.

I don't think it's particularly harsh but a surprise - yes. Considering there is a lot of posters who feel that JB is an average driver at best, it doesn't say much for Perez. I still think the decision is linked to the sponsorship that Perez was thought to bring in place of the exiting Voda - probably ties in with MW stating that the title sponsor will not be disclosed until late December or even the new car launch.

Brilliant news about Magnussen. Really impressed with McLaren, didn't think Whitmarsh had the balls to make a decision like this, but they've shown some real ambition recently, first raiding Red Bull for Prodromou and now sacking Perez to bring in a hugely talented rookie. I wonder if Ron Dennis is having more influence.

Interesting. As soon as Perez was signed I thought Telmex would be their title sponsor. Something's definitely fallen through there, the talk was that the sponsorship was already secured but they were waiting until the Vodafone sponsorship ended. Whitmarsh saying the decision has been delayed because it would create more publicity if announced when the car is launched doesn't really hold water because he says they could announce it late December or at launch.

Would've tied in perfectly with the December 2nd date, gutted this happening. <wah>

Unless I'm missing something, surely he's still odds-on to go to Lotus? If their Quantum deal falls through then he might have an issue, but otherwise he's in pole position for the seat alongside Grosjean.

When he broke the Massa story Benson seemed convinced Maldonado was odds-on for Lotus with "options" at Sauber and Force India.

How do people think Massa will get on at Williams? Has Massa's problem been a car designed for Alonso, whose driving preference is for a bit of understeer where most prefer a bit of oversteer? Is that why when one does well the other has a bad day?

well next years Williams will have little input from Massa. So he will need to fit into Bottas driving and possibly Maldo's style.

As for Williams relaunch#10 as winners Massa may be a coup but... not a huge coup. Probably the best they could imagine signing as there are not many other realistic options. though maybe Perez could have been a better option now? or maybe hold out for a Force India driver?

As you may detect, Im not fully sure how Massa will fare at williams.. I rate him lower than a Barrichello, Fisichella, Trulli, Ralf, Heidfelt or Frentzen kind of driver

F1 2014, could it be a Di Resta free zone?
One thing is for certain, I'd be (and he'll be too) pi$$ed if Hulk doesn't get a "race winning" car for 2014, if he gets a car at all!

Perez to Force India is looking more likely. Wonder if di Resta will be complementary to his team for the last two races now it looks like his safe seat is getting very unsafe.

    Oh dear god!

Formula 1 teams worried about 'ugly' 2014 cars

Formula 1 teams are concerned that the 2014 technical regulations are forcing them into 'ugly' designs with hooked nose sections, as shown by this AUTOSPORT image.

The rules for next season require a high chassis of 525mm and a low nose tip at 185mm.

But the regulations only demand a relatively small nose tip cross-section, and teams will want to minimise the width of this area to improve air flow under the chassis.

That raises the prospect of slender, drooping nose tip extensions to meet minimum rules requirements for this section, protruding from a higher, more bulky, section that will pass crash tests and fit teams' aerodynamic needs.

While not all teams are believed to be heading down this design route, it is understood that several leading outfits believe it is the best solution.

AUTOSPORT understands that some senior Formula 1 technical personnel have already called for changes to improve aesthetics, but this was not successful due to a lack of agreement on the need to do something.

You may want to hide behind a cushion for this...
